Windows 10 Compatibility w/ Oculus Rift DK2 - PLEASE READ

Our software team is working as quickly as possible to complete Windows 10 compatibility with our SDK and the Oculus Runtime. As Windows 10 is not officially supported at this time, we strongly suggest that Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 owners do not upgrade from previous versions of Windows until we have the officially updated SDK and Oculus Runtime available.

Hi! I've just got my DK2, I couldn't make it work either. I tried the Runtime 0.8, it didn't work, so I took the 0.7, and it didn't work either.

I'm on a laptop with WIndows 10 (config : Intel core i3 + Nvidia GeForce 820M). And before you say anything : it's not because of my configuration. Indeed : I've made it work!

So, here is an advice for those who can't run the DK2 on Windows 10 : take the Oculus Runtime 0.4. It works perfectly. And maybe the 0.6 also works, I haven't tried yet (after hours spent trying to make it work, I just want to play now, enough crash-testing for me!).

Also, I'd like to report this to the devs : the problem clearly comes from the Runtimes. So, maybe it's a bug? Maybe not, still it's kind of weird : the only Runtimes that don't work on Windows 10 are the ones that should be working on it!

will can you sendme the 0.4 runtime, please?

You can not use Runtime 0.6 on Windows 10. It won't work, like I said. You need at least 0.7, though I would recommend using 0.8 (the latest public release). Be sure to uninstall 0.6 completely, then restart, before installing 0.8.

Then, AMD 6000 series cards are not supported. I'm unsure why you have two different GPUs in your system, and I'm not sure that will work. I'd recommend removing the 6670 card or, at the very least, make sure DK2 and all monitors are plugged into the better card.

You can also try this AMD driver:

    Hope that helps.

Hi! I've just got my DK2, I couldn't make it work either. I tried the Runtime 0.8, it didn't work, so I took the 0.7, and it didn't work either.

If you have a currently supported video card, DK2 should work fine with the current SDK/runtime.  I am in fact running with a DK2 on my machine on Windows 10.  If your card is below spec (they dropped support for < Kepler NVIDIA cards (below 600 series) over a year ago), then you are in the wild-lands of trying to make old Oculus runtimes work, which would also require finding a video card driver that also works with said runtime.
