Worse motion sickness?

On the DK1 I was able to check out all of the demos, all of the roller coasters, everything. I only got a bit of motion sickness once or twice, and it always was after using it for a long time, and under other circumstances (long day, tired etc..)
But so far with the DK2, I have been getting some crazy motion sickness from several demos. I started getting it looking at some of the water effect on quake 2, and again on quake 1 (just playing normal for a while)
But I just tried the Helix coaster, and I couldn't even survive the thing. Ugh, had to take it off. That NEVER happened on the Dk1! Has anybody else felt similarly?

As an aside, all of these demos have been running in extended mode, if that matters.

the DK2 definitely IS less motion sickening. can you confirm that your positional tracking is working (in the demo/game as well)?

I have never experienced motion sickness, from games like q3 or real life fun fair rides no matter how intense. Yet the roller coaster demos on DK2 have given me the most Epic levels of motion sickness, and its lasted all day. I recommend people avoid them tbh, they are well made and good. But sheesh its just not worth losing a day to feeling sick for 12 hours.

Im running a 780Ti, so no problems with frame rate. Purely biological motion laws in the brain being broken by these game designs. Stop making crazy mad movement experience type software, and Focus on fishing, or sitting in chairs hand tennis type stuff :)

Even, myneighbouttotoro where you have to move around like an fps character, bleeughh wheres the bucket!.

Yet, when I play Vanguard, theres no motion sickness at all. Someone needs to figure this out and create the equation ruleset for game designers to abide to. Because VR are going to have to be designed from the ground up to avoid this.

I think that the more real the simulation is, the more real the side effects will become if playing FPS like games. If you had 100% photo realistic scene and perfect 1 to 1 tracking, with 100% presence, then changing the position of the camera would induce some really mean vertigo. On the other hand, third person and non moving experience should be totally smooth.

I've noticed in most demos the movement speed is still a bit faster than it should be (at least for me) and in other demos there is a tiny bit of lag between moving my head and the scene rendering. You can see it if you swing your head quickly from one side to the other. In some demos turning off Aero and forcing DX11 can reduce this to near zero so those would just be software cases. Both of these issues are small but still noticeable.

I am a musician who uses PC's for processing audio streams and I learned to sense latency and compensate for it when playing. Even a few MS is really noticeable at top speed.I think this may be still causing some of what people are experiencing. I would think that the first of these issues will work its way out in time as better development practices begin to take hold. The second issue people will just get used to and as we hit faster frame rates it will pretty much vanish entirely.

I think the latency of the DK2 is probably better than the DK1, right? I /almost/ never got sick on the DK1. Both times I was under the weather.

I didn't get any kind of sickness the few times I used a DK1. This DK2 though in certain applications makes me sick.

I haven't spent much time tweaking it, I think my IPD is off and I have an older GTX 570 video card that I'm using. So both these factors might attribute to it.

I just got my DK2 in on Monday, haven't had the opportunity to try out the DK1 for more than 30 seconds. I was only able to play the Tuscany demo for a little while. Got really bad "simulator sickness" from going up and down stairs and turning using the control stick instead of me head. Spent all day Tuesday "hungover" (no alcohol). I think today even I can still kinda feel it just looking at my work monitor and thinking about it. Not sure if it's because I'm just starting out or not. I really hope it goes away and I can work through it. Loved the experience while it lasted. Don't love the lasting experience of dizziness in real life though.

Check for chromatic aberration. I believe that some of us received units with a bit different lens material. There is a fix for all of with the ca problem that changes the base setting 75 percent. Before I applied the fix, I would want to hurl in about two minutes. Afterwards I was able to for hours with no problems at all.

I most definitely have a ca issue. What's the fix?
