Worse motion sickness?

On the DK1 I was able to check out all of the demos, all of the roller coasters, everything. I only got a bit of motion sickness once or twice, and it always was after using it for a long time, and under other circumstances (long day, tired etc..)
But so far with the DK2, I have been getting some crazy motion sickness from several demos. I started getting it looking at some of the water effect on quake 2, and again on quake 1 (just playing normal for a while)
But I just tried the Helix coaster, and I couldn't even survive the thing. Ugh, had to take it off. That NEVER happened on the Dk1! Has anybody else felt similarly?

As an aside, all of these demos have been running in extended mode, if that matters.

    Same situation for me.
I have I5 / NVidia GT650 / 16Gb RAM / Win7 (yes I know that is poor hardware for DK2) but even if I set in many demos details to LOW I fill sick... I try every settings: Monitos 75Hz, low details, switch off aero... everything what was described on this forum, and reddit ... and nothing.

My friend who testing my DK2 have same problem. First filling is cool, but after few minutes in DK2 every have little or bigger disorders...

Now when I reading all info about DK2 I feel strange. I have a suspicion that 90% of cool opinion is generated by "fake" fans, and this is some "sale method". Like "fake" likes on facebook.

    Best regards,
    Jakub.

    DK1 made me sick..EXTREMELY sick.
The first day i got it. After 10mins i had to take it off and go lay in my bed.
The next 3 days after that just looking at the Oculus Rift box would make me sick.
I would get even more sick if i just smelt the foam.

DK2 is announced and im super happy. Lots of information coming out saying they have fixed the motion-sickness problem.
I rejoice for this is the news ive been waiting to hear.
My dream of finally going into a VR world without getting sick actually becomes a reality...

A few months later they start demoing the DK2 at events. People start interviewing people and asking how comfortable it was. People in the interviews are saying they are getting motion sick still. My stomach dropped.

Anyways. I get my DK2 and STILL i get motion-sickness and all the crap they said about getting rid of it was bull.
I only use the headset for like 5mins at a time when a demo is worth the sickness and laying in bed for a few mins.

All the excitement i had for VR is basically gone now.

I think that the problem in Oculus is no eye tracking.

Ex. when You turn Your head - Your eyes fixing/locking on points around You.
In Oculus You have one type "depth of view". You see everything but You can't naturally fixing Your sight on one points around You - when You moving Your head. This is little problem when You not "walking" in games, but when You "walk" Your eyes loosing "lock point".

In real life : The feeling is like You lock Your sight/eyes on one point near of You and fast moving Your head - This create motion sickness in Oculus.

I remember few Years ago probably on MTBS3D forum have same problem in LCD flipping glasses. They try to create drivers which auto fixing Your sight on the points which is in the centre of the screen. I tested it probably on System Shock 2, but You must "lock" Your eyes on the middle of the screen, and that was problem, but maybe in Oculus will be different...

    Think about it Mr. Palmer.

I hope that You understand me ;)

    Jakub.

Problem is that I wanted to develop a game and now I find that this effort is useless because the Rift needs a lot of improvement.

Oculus company strategy is very very smart but not really honest. I'm not very happy about DK2 experience and the problems i'm finding in it

Many people think that the HI RES, and HI refresh rate in Oculus is "Holy Grail".

I think is not resolution is first problem, not door effect, screen type LCD, OLED, 120 Hz per eye etc.

First problem is how to track both eye and define "lock point" and create dynamically correct "depth of view" in 3d apps.

This "fate hovering" on VR helmets staring from VFX, I/O Glasses, and others...

What do You think Mr. Palmer Luckey ?

Yesterday I played Windlands for 20min and had to stop due to motion sickness. Amazing demo by the way.

I have tried many demos before and never felt sick.

It was 15 hours ago and I am still not 100% and not feeling hungry at all.

Maybe there is a opportunity here. Create weight loss virtual reality experiences. Just try it before your meals.

    Next problem is eye accommodation.
    http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/LensAccommodationInTheHumanEye/

The optics in Oculus is set for one level of depth.
It's not normal when eye try to accommodate on the fixed/lock depth (this hurts Your eyes), this is old problem in stereoscopic.

I think actual technology is too weak for real VR.

Only when we can track eyes, and check accommodation and prepare special image for both eye in real time with out lag, we can build real VR device :(

    Jakub.

I've opened a new threat searching for people if there is anybody enjoying the Rift without any kind of sickness:

    Hello,

After few weeks of testing DK2 and comparing optics to old VFX1, I/O Glasses I think that I have idea how to reduce motion sickness. I have also access to optics in CCTV cameras ex. "fisheye" lens.

Image showing for both eyes must be more flatten not barrel/convex like now.
    ex.
    Not like this : http://blog.inf.ed.ac.uk/atate/files/2014/07/2014-07-30-Oculus-Rift-DK2-Test-Scene.jpg
But more like this : http://i1107.photobucket.com/albums/h399/mp4yne/_EnvArt_Wolfs_Lair_stereo_final.jpg?t=1287530934

In drivers must be possibility to change this image from barrel/convex to more flatten style, because from what I noticed its different filling of it for every person.

Please test it, this really helps. The "fisheye" is a problem...

Simple question : How to disable, or change parameters of barrel distortion for DK2 in driver ?

just wanted to jump on the bandwagon and say that the motion sickness is so bad for me that it makes me not want to use it ever again. I'm no longer excited about this product as I once was. I never tried dk1 and I've only had dk2 for a couple of days. I hope something is done about that before the retail version is out. I'm also very disappointed that the issue of motion sickness isn't addressed enough or at least that's my impression.
