Question

Worlds Desktop Editor installed from the website is Not opening

Hello,🖐

I installed the Worlds Desktop Editor from the official website, and it was working fine initially. I downloaded it the day before yesterday and was able to use it for about a day without any issues.

However, now when I try to open the application, nothing happens. It seems like it's attempting to launch, but it doesn’t fully open, I am stuck on a black screen. Before this issue started, it repeatedly prompted me to log in—despite already being logged into Facebook.

I’ve tried restarting my PC, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and checking for updates. I also installed the version from the Link store, which launched successfully, but it didn’t log me into my account nor did it prompt me to.

I’ve searched through the forums and tried the suggested solutions, including making sure my drivers are fully updated, but the problem still persists. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.🤙

Thank you.

Hey, I had this problem. I installed c++ restarted and worked fine. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Still broken as of today.

Funny thing, opening the quest link version now tells me to go download the standalone version.. which doesnt work 😄

Have you fully checked the system requirements? Maybe when the program was updated they removed the support for certain GPU’s or other hardware. I know that I cannot run on one of my computers but I can on the other.

Yes. Have an ongoing support ticket about this issue and sent them my system specs. They said it should run.

Funny thing is, my new PC (that it doesn't run on) is supposed to be better and has win 11 but my laptop (that is DOES still run on) is older and has win 10. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

But like I said b4, it worked on thePC fine when I first got in a month ago.

I have the same issue and as Stephen describes earlier; when I use the Link version I get a prompt that tells me to go download the standalone version. The Link Desktop Editor won't open either.

I got all excited when I saw an update ready to download through link....but now I get an error code instead of the app even launching to freeze. Standalone still doesn't work either

An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later. (OVR25027186)

Tell me why, I reset(wiped) my pc for a brand new start, and redownloaded everything, now BOTH platforms are black screen, not only that before I  had reset my pc my assets in the worlds i wa creating  kept disappearing to triangles with exclamation points, this is getting frustrating, if it not one thing its another.

For the black screen issue, please try downloading the latest VC++ - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 . It is likely not installed on your fresh PC install.

The Triangle error is related to scripts in your world that are attempting to swap textures too quickly. When this happens, you may experience a rate limit on your account. Please take a look at the scripts in the worlds you were editing just before experiencing the error and check the frequency of any texture swaps. Once removed, your textures will begin loading normally again in roughly 24 hours.

Thanks for the input! But would this affect me outside of the World Creator? Because I went to go play some meta games and I was still seeing exclamations 😳

Got a similar issue today where the desktop editor just stays on the black screen infinitely. From the 30+ times I tried to close and start the software again only 1 time it opened correctly.  Maybe tomorrow it'll work again like it did before.

The editor starts again as normal, not sure why it didn't work yesterday. Only thing I can think of from my side is that it was a very warm day ☀️ maybe overheating the CPU and GPU.

Im not sure what's triggering it to come back so randomly, but again im back to normal on the loading on both platforms 👾👾
