Question

Worlds Desktop Editor installed from the website is Not opening

Hello,🖐

I installed the Worlds Desktop Editor from the official website, and it was working fine initially. I downloaded it the day before yesterday and was able to use it for about a day without any issues.

However, now when I try to open the application, nothing happens. It seems like it's attempting to launch, but it doesn’t fully open, I am stuck on a black screen. Before this issue started, it repeatedly prompted me to log in—despite already being logged into Facebook.

I’ve tried restarting my PC, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and checking for updates. I also installed the version from the Link store, which launched successfully, but it didn’t log me into my account nor did it prompt me to.

I’ve searched through the forums and tried the suggested solutions, including making sure my drivers are fully updated, but the problem still persists. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.🤙

Thank you.

Can confirm the standalone editor still doesn't work. When you open it it just goes to a black screen then the application closes.

I think I am having a similar problem. It does go to a black screen, attempts to install an update and then fails and crashes.

Then I went to the website to download the latest version of the desktop editor and this is what occurs when I try to install it:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click Ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Worlds-Desktop-Editor-v220.0.0.8.665.msi' in the box below.
Use source: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp\Update-7e1d97fc-5d12-4440-bf86-4e5dca39202a\

Then if I change the source file to the one I just downloaded I get: The file '...Downloads\Worlds-Desktop-Editor-v224.0.0.16.658.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product Worlds Desktop Editor. Try to find the installation package 'Worlds-Desktop-Editor-v220.0.0.8.665.msi' in a folder from which you can install Worlds Desktop Editor.

When it fails I close all open install windows and get one last message:
The older version of Worlds Desktop Editor can not be removed. Contact your technical support group.

If I look in the AppData folder the only source file I find is C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp\Update-33424e38-401b-4289-b474-544c3160b4f0\ which contains Worlds-Desktop-Editor-v224.0.0.16.658

I am stuck using the desktop editor through Quest Link until I can successfully uninstall and then install the latest version of the standalone editor.

Update: I ended up using Revo Uninstall Free program to remove the broken Worlds Desktop Editor from my computer. I was then able to install a fresh copy.
