PTC v63 Release Thread

Thanks everyone for all your feedback on our previous builds, several bugs were identified in PTC v62 and the solutions for some have shipped, while others are on the way!

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v63 is starting to roll out soon for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v63 jump on over to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v63" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v63 issues too.

It's best if you can post each bug you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately.

Share your impressions and let us know if you see any issues. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

I keep getting tracking errors couldn't get them to go away sometimes when I powered off and on at fixed it sometimes it did not

but I noticed when I hold my hand over the middle sensor on the Quest 3 and push the power button on and off it fixes the problem every time also noticed that

it don't matter what game sometimes it messes up

sometimes the same game did not mess up..

It seemed to be dying quicker I thought maybe it was overheating so I pushed the face of the headset up against a cold door and noticed that  when I turned on and off with the screen up against the door that I can set a stationary boundary and it would stop the tracking errors

I stood about a foot from the door that seemed to work still after going back to the middle room area I play in it started again..

So I put my hand over the middle sensor and turned the screen off and on.

And it fixes the tracking problems instantly so far every time

like I said it didn't matter what game after a few minutes it did it again and all I have to do is hold my hand over the middle sensor and turn the screen off and on to fix it..

So I say it's that middle sensor on the front causing problems

Sorry if I'm not clear I'm not as I am not a good  communicator and have to use my microphone

Thank you for all your patience and help everyone You're the best

Came here to see if v63 was worth jumping in to PTC to check out, I can see by the comments that it is not, thank you 👍

MrBIO yes! Of course that’s the point of the PTC. I was just saying there is a difference of reporting bugs compared to being upset because someone can’t play games at the moment. If you are going to be a tester you have you have to be able to accept that. Don’t get me wrong. I understand the frustration when things doesn’t work right I hate it too but thats something I knew going in. All I’m saying, sorry if it got away from me.

jollyjesus Did you try to reset with power button and volume down button?

jollyjesus Glad that you have found the problem causing it. That would mean that with v63 the depth sensor actually does something. I personally have no issues on this PTC which means that when you were updating the headset, something went wrong while updating it. This has been something I experienced I think on v52 PTC and it still isn't fixed. I guess the only way is to hope that meta releases a new update that would fix it.

taurus50.434060 yes several times it may not be a PTC v63 and be a regular v63 I don't know how to tell but yes I did a factory reset but the app and a factory reset using the buttons on the device both with being opt-in and opt out.. holding a sensor in the middle of the of the quest 3 I think it's the depth sensor and powering the screen off and back on always fixes it.. also debug options remain enabled

It's like my hand calibrates The depth sensor or something..

MrBIO

If you aren't having any trouble at all

It may allow me to side load V63 again

It only said it would not let me do the v62 because it was older so all I have to do is find a V63 firmware I suppose

There is an archive site with quest firmwares but no v63 for quest 3 yet. I have no idea how to extract it, so if you want to try it then wait for the v63 on this site: Y29jYWluZS50cmFkZQ== (base64 decode), or just wait for meta to release a new update.

MrBIO okay I did the side load it didn't reset none of the settings so nice but I may need to do that...

It messed up soon as it came back on but it hasn't since I rebooted..

I'm going to test a bunch things out and I'll let y'all know thank you very much..
