PTC v76 Release Thread

Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v76 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v76:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v76" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v76 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

    What should the final public release of V76 be?  I am on PTC but how do I know if I got the public release now?  I am currently on;

    I got the non-PTC v76 update on my Q3/512Gb earlier today (v76.1023), as well on my QPro (v76.1021).  I also got a non-beta v76 update on my meta-link pc app (v76.0.0.452.315).

    The meta-link PC app updates sometime lags a little behind (2-5 days) and in the past I've needed to go to the settings/beta tab top option and enable the beta version because things generally work best if your headset and PC app are on the same version.  I've then waited about a week, disabled the beta option, and it then quickly updates to the same non-beta version.  In my case both updated at the same time,

    All's working fine standalone and PCVR with Link and wireless with Air Link. Tested a few standalone and PCVR apps today, including msfs2020 and everything ran very well.

    Also, my Q3 headset and Q3 Elite battery strap seem to be charging up fine (both to 100%/green) as well as my QPro headset battery.  I can't say I notice any significant performance differences, but I'm always very happy when updates don't brick anything, lol!

    Okay. So if you connect to wired link on PCVR, does your hand tracking ever work back in the Meta OS when you quit out?

    For me, even if I double tap to get back to meta OS hand tracking doesn't start again unless I reset.

    Also moved 1023, still getting disconnects/reconnects if the Q3 is plugged into the PC but powered off. So many windows notifications and charging won't work.

    Still getting hand tracking not working if I've enabled Link and try to get back.

    Again - this worked in V72.

    Xypheron  I don't normally use hand tracking with my Q3 but I enabled it in order to test it out for you.

    Yes, when going back from Link or Air Link to the Quest home, you currently cannot re-enable hand tracking without restarting your headset.  The only workarounds I could find was to either restart the headset or fully disable hand tracking before going into PCVR, then re-enable it later.  Seems the restart option is best right now.  I have filed a bug report on this and maybe so should you.  Cheers.

    Quick update with v76;

    I found that battery runtime efficiency when using Link or Air Link greatly improved (~20-25%) a few updates ago (v69?).  This seemed to go back to lower battery efficiency with v74 and I filed a bug report on this.  Fortunately, with the latest non-ptc v76 update this improved battery efficiency seems to be back again.  Thanks meta and cheers.
