Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v78 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v78:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v78" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v78 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

TomCgcmfc Just for fun I switched on my Q2 to see what will happen.
    Another crazy one - it say's: now update to v78.1028 bulid 5163765.8610.150 (1.19GB) ?
Okay... just done it and what should I say? It stays!

No, a joke... after Restart it's v78.1026 with the build mentioned above.
But anotherer update shows up... v78.1028 bulid 5163765.8610.150 at only 104MB.
Okay... another round - and this time I made screenshots to proove it, if nessesary.

After restart it stays at v78.1026 within the build above.
    Coming from v77.1026 build 5158488.8460.150 (13th May)...

    And now?

Beside that, I noticed another update for the Meta Link desktop app... what?
And yes, it seems smaller (only 8 parts, not 9 as before) and updates to 78.0.0.988.310... fianally!
It also includes driver updates for windows and it works well with the Q2.

Some kind of "update series" for me?

P.S.: sorry for double post 😢

probably (also) a server-related but the important "unkown source" area where you can start all the apps from sidequest and android-flatapps like spotify: the visibility becomes more and more unreliable for me.

sometimes "unkown sources" is visible and sometimes not, developer mode is always turned on ...

sideloading flat android apps and experiences from sidequest is very valueadding for my usage of the quest as standalonehmd...

Quest 2 headset updated to v78.1027 earlier this week.

Update decided to change the default voice setting for Meta AI assistant.

Power off hangup is back to hanging up 2 out of 3 times. Update settings make no difference.

Buetigame  Ya, I also now have the latest non-beta meta link pc app v78 update (v78.0.0.988.310).  All's working great with my Q3 with Air Link and QPro with Link.  As usual, I'm sure these updates will brick a lot of Reddit kiddies headsets and make them curse meta and cry to their momma, lol!

TomCgcmfc Did you check WLAN speed with yor QPro?
I've heared, nothing changed on this side.

And yeah, the "staying link connection panel" is ugly... but not a game breaker, as you've wrote.

Buetigame  I normally use my QPro with the official link cable connected to my z790mb usb3.2 gen2 type-c port so this wifi throttling issue hasn't bothered me.

I did test this a while ago with my QPro and found I couldn't get more than about 250mbps using Air Link with h.264 codec.

Anyway, bit of a pain but I repeated this today with my QPro with Air Link and managed to get ~550mbps with h.264 codec.  So, this wifi throttling issue looks to be fixed now.  Cheers.

TomCgcmfc Thank's for investigating... that's confirming my expectation!
WLAN issue with Q2/QPro fixed now.

Also the new v78 constallation seems very stable and looks good.
Hopefully not to many Reddits "cry to their momma" 🤣

The feature I’m liking the best is when I turn my Q3 on it automatically asks me if you want activate Link(cable) because of course I do.

INSTG8R75  I actually find those pop ups kinda annoying.  These have been around for quite a while now (v74?).  If you like them that’s great.  Cheers

TomCgcmfc Enable, Not Now,  and the final choice is Never Show Again?

I mean I just use mine for Sim Driving so if I’m turning it on it’s exactly what I’m going to do anyway, saves me a “few pinches” going to the menu to do it.
Edit: the pop-up I wish would go away is the USB one…
