Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v79 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v79:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v79" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v79 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

Has anyone had issues with v79 with using Quest Pro Controllers with the Q3? I have always used QPro Controllers and after the 79 and weird navigation screen, the controller doesnt work right..  really doesnt work at all.. I had to pair my Q3 Regular controllers and now they work perfectly. but my Qpro its all off..

Just like in the picture, I finally received the navigator! It's great, and it can actually run in Chinese (maybe also support other languages). I don't know if it only pushes when the system language is English, but after it becomes available, it can indeed switch languages through Android native settings without restarting the device. I haven't restarted the device yet because I like it and I'm not sure if it will disappear after restarting.

You might like it now, but give it a few days and it'll really get on your nerves as it makes doing anything a lot slower and it's full of bugs still, for example install a new game and it doesn't show up in your library until you've done a reboot..! The mist around everything in passthrough mode makes passthrough mode useless!!, there's no drag handle for recentring the display (have to hold the meta button every time!) and the fact the if you use dark mode on the old menus, it looks as if the whole thing is just a Frankenstein's monster of an OS.

But ha ho that's just my opinion.!

I’ve been a long-time user of the Quest Pro Controllers with my Quest 3, and up until the recent PTC v79 firmware update, they’ve worked flawlessly. But after installing v79, the controllers are nearly unusable. I'm experiencing severe input issues — constant joystick drift, delayed or completely inaccurate directional inputs, and sometimes pushing up sends me sideways or not at all. This is *not* an isolated issue with grime or calibration — I’ve cleaned the controllers thoroughly, restarted the headset, and even re-paired everything. Nothing helped.

Out of frustration, I unpaired the Pro Controllers and went back to the original Quest 3 controllers. Instantly, everything worked fine again. That clearly points to something broken in the firmware’s compatibility or input handling for the Pro Controllers. And no, I’m not doing a full factory reset just to beta test something that *shouldn’t have been pushed in this condition.* I shouldn’t have to re-download dozens of apps and reconfigure my entire setup just to maybe make it work again.

And let’s talk about the new system navigation: it’s horrendous. Whoever greenlit this UI overhaul must have skipped every user feedback meeting. The new navigation is clunky, slow, unintuitive, and a *massive regression* from what we had before. It’s by far the worst system UX I’ve seen on any Android-based platform — and yes, that includes Samsung’s notoriously bloated UI. Somehow, Meta managed to top even that. It’s frustrating to use, gets in the way of productivity and immersion, and feels like it was designed for people *not* wearing a headset.

We need to see:

* A rollback or hotfix for the Quest Pro Controller compatibility issue.
* A clear explanation of what changed in input handling with v79.
* A serious reconsideration of the new navigation system — ideally a full revert or at least the option to switch back to the previous layout.

This beta has turned my experience from “next-gen” to “barely usable.” Please listen to your power users and early adopters — we’re here to help improve the platform, but this update has broken things that were never broken before.

After receiving the update to v79, two days later I received the Navigator update (even though there were no additional updates). Since then, I’ve been experiencing several bugs: the battery is draining extremely fast, closed windows (like YouTube) continue playing audio and I have to restart the headset to fix it, the internet stops working after sleep mode and even when properly connected I have to restart to get the connection back. The system is also very slow.

Another bug I'm experiencing is constantly receiving notifications to join Worlds, even though it's not available in Brazil. I get around 5 to 10 notifications every hour.

I got the new ugly navigator. We need a toggle to get the old one or at least remove that haze that makes me thing my eyes are cataracted! It’s hard to focus on actually.
