Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v79 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v79:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v79" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v79 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

Ever since I’ve updated to v79 my headset won’t completely turn on like I press the power button and the screen turns on but it’s black but it’s still on I’ve only gotten it to work once by restarting it multiple times but I haven’t been able to use my headset since

Please remain objective. I have a few problems as well. Everyone is aware that errors can occur during public testing. Please describe your problems objectively so that the relevant developers can investigate them. For example, I have the problem that various Y cables aren't working for me, and I've provided the developers with the relevant logs. Give the developers some time; they're only human and can't perform magic.

The Navigator works well for me after a bit of getting used to it. (Ich Wohne in Deutschland und hatte es gestern nach einem Neustart der Q3)
USB Y cable detection is still faulty.
The Quest Pro Controller is currently faulty.
I haven't discovered any graphics issues.
The system runs stably with apps and games (no crashes).

While I understand and respect your call for objectivity, it’s also important to acknowledge that many of us have been objective in the past — provided logs, outlined our issues in detail, waited through multiple updates — and yet still saw little to no resolution. The unfortunate reality is that most of what’s posted on these forums never even reaches a Meta developer's eyes. There’s no official pipeline between user posts and direct engineering response, so this space ends up being more of a feedback void than an actual support line.

For a lot of us, expressing our frustration here isn’t just random venting — it’s a release valve. When your $1,000+ device suddenly breaks core functionality (like Quest Pro controller input), and you're left in silence while Meta silently tests things on us without clear communication, it's infuriating. Public testing or not, the experience matters. And letting people honestly express how broken things are — even with emotion — helps surface patterns and adds pressure for Meta to actually respond or act.

Sure, logs are helpful, but when past experience has shown they often go ignored or result in generic replies, it’s hard to keep faith in that system. The forums serve as a community voice — if that voice is silenced in favor of only calm, sterile reports, then we lose the human side of what’s actually going wrong for real users.

Let people speak up in the way that makes sense to them. Some of us are just tired of being beta testers without support — and this is the only place we can be heard, even if faintly.

Yes, I completely agree. I also contacted the developers/support separately to get more information and to describe my problem in detail. I understand everyone's frustration. I wrote a post above that was emotional and not technically relevant. Unfortunately, I don't know how the Meta Firmware developers get their bug list so they can address the key problems. I hope things get better; so far, I've been pretty happy with the support and the communication with some of the developers. I think they're working hard on it and will provide a fix soon.

Yeah, yeah, they can indeed fix bugs to some extent, but I only care when the **bleep** grayscale push mechanism will disappear. Some people already have window following function in V77, while others do not have it in V79 yet. This is just an example, with more features such as a navigator, backend management, and custom shortcut menus.Although I already have most of the above features - after an incredibly long wait. But we cannot say that this feature will eventually come, you should just wait, no, this is not what we deserve.Isn't the purpose of joining PTC just to experience new features earlier? But obviously, in the past few versions - from V76 to V79- PTC only received more bugs, and even pushed directly to the official version without completely fixing the bugs in one PTC version, and then the next version was released.Obviously, Meta didn't pay attention to those bugs, he just kept releasing new versions - just playing a numbers game: bigger numbers, updated versions. As for new features and bug fixes? Who cares.

https://b23.tv/qTlf5tu Hey everyone, I don't know if you can see this video, but this guy has the latest version of navigator and window following function in V78. I'm really jealous.

Yes, I could see it, it's a shame that it doesn't show in the menu that it really has v78, but it's quite possible.
