Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v83 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

Release Notes: https://www.meta.com/help/quest/172903867975450/

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v83:

1) For issues: Go to our Quest Forums and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v83" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v83 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

    Quest Pro
Just been updated to a new v83 version which brings me back to the regular/old interface.
I have a lot of WiFi issues (6GHz) : my bitrate drops every few minutes or so...
Controllers got their firmware updated : they lose their relative location quite often (I have to then bring them in from of the headset/right in front my head to get them to converge toward their real location)

Edit : Forcing a headset restart seems to have resolved the network unstablility. Bandwith seems ok...

My Pro controllers have problems all the time since they changed to Horizon OS I don't think fixing Quest Pro issues is at the top of the list. Everything is directed to the Quest 3 it seems. To fix the issues with the Quest Pro I bought a Quest 3 lol.

I hope there going to be leaving in disable navigator i think it is garbage.

I was happy with old home why do ineed to move around jump and sit in chairs i am in the menu to start a game and nothing else all this is stupid.

When in home i keep getting messages about not being able to join. (Join what i have no idea)

Also a few of the older games i have keep saying not enough memory to run and just close i also get this with apps that i am not even trying to use.

These are stupid updates for a ui we dont need  and being pushed on everyone by removing tbe ability to block updates is a **bleep**ty move on metas part we should have an option if we want to update or not these devices belong to us but your forcing what you want on all users i think this navigator and new home enviroment is a waste of system rescources full of bugs i take my headset off put it on my shelf when i put it back on i am stuck in an object or outside the actual home (under the map way of explaining it)

I never used horizon and never will im there to start my game i want to play thats it

I don't have Horizon worlds where I am, though I connected through a VPN on my router once. I never bothered doing it again. It's not for me, but a lot of people like it.. I agree that we should be able to remove it completely and just play games if it's what you want.

Just updated to the non-PTC v83.

New Navigator is garbage. The old Navigator was near garbage.

Missing are filters and sort option on the app library.  So now you cannot show only installed apps or only uninstalled apps or only apps with updates available. Nor can you sort them. Meta took away these options on the Universal Menu to many complaints and took months to restore these functions.

You would think Meta would learn from their past mistakes but this is not the case. It wouldn't surprise me that Meta has a constant turnover of developers and there is no one left that was around when filters and sorting was removed from the app library the first time.

At least the hide function is still accessible. It means that instead of setting installed only filter I have to go through each and every uninstalled app and hide it. A total waste of time and a more negative UX.

And since Navigator was installed on my headset several releases back I don't have the option to continue using the Universal Menu.

Poor pooch. Screwed by Meta once again.

That's very strange. Just got official release of V83 this morning and you can clearly see on the top photo that the option to filter installed, not installed, hidden, and updates are there. Also noticed my environments which were a bit low res looking have improved a lot. It's a great update so far. Everything is working well, and faster. Are you sure you looked in the right place for the filters? As I'm writing this my friend got the update too and she can see the app filtering option. If you don't see it, try a restart or use the software update tool, maybe your update got interrupted or glitches out. I'm going to ask a few others I know personally and if they got v83 can they see app filters. I suspect if I can see it, they can too. I'll let you know after I talk to them, so you can decide if you want to reset or reinstall the update. 👍

NomadsAnIsland Just to let you know, my version build no is v83.1034 updated from v81.1034. I have just now checked with 2 other people here and they have v83 and app filtering option. First time I've seen us all getting the update together!

NomadsAnIsland OK, I've communicated with the 6 people I know locally and they all got v83.1034 (which is unusual in itself!) and all of them have app filtering too, can separate apps by installed, uninstalled, hidden and update. I think you might need to use the meta software update tool to repair it if you don't have it. Maybe the update was interrupted when downloading it.

Maccyb123 You and friends have an older version of Navigator. The version I have has the press and hold function instead of the three dots for the options menu.

Check the 14/16 digit build number for comparison. Build 5197809.7820.150 install 25 Nov 2025. Meta deploys updates and features in fragmented fashion. Some people in v81 never got Navigator installed.

NomadsAnIsland You were right. I think you missed my later comment when I mentioned you, that after a second restart I got exactly what you have here. 😁 I even wrote a specific comment correcting myself and pointing out that you were right! 😁 Wierd that it didn't show up after the first restart after the update but that's what happened.. I got the people I know to restart again and they also had the old setup disappear. I put that in one of the comments too. This thread is so full of comments they're easy to miss. Thanks for the effort here. 👍

The new Navigator is so bad Meta reverted to the old one on my headset.

Seriously, I don't see how that version got past Alpha testing. They added one to three layers or steps to just about every task.

And Meta AI keeps changing every time I restart my headset. One time it has a different set of voices, the next time back to the old set of voices. Sometimes it will tell me what my battery level is even though I have to rephrase the question several times. The next time it will refuse to help me at all.

Now the last update to the Link App broke it. Won't connect to the service even though it is running and it won't let me repair the app. I'll have to try installing it over the previous install or uninstall and reinstall. I bet some of the apps and games I have won't be available any more.

Really like the improvements to the task bar.  Having the battery status indicator back is really nice.  This is the task bar we should keep forever now.  It's perfect, please don't change this, we've got wifi, battery, camera, able to close out of our immersive app, notifications and settings, that's all it needs, it's not cluttered, looks great.

That is great. Not having it easily viewable is a major annoyance on V81. Good to know it's changing. 👏👏

Another update under v83 installed on the 4 Dec. I don't see anything new or different. Navigator reverted to the older version a day or two before - thank goodness.

An odd thing just happened to me.  I was playing miracle pool with a guy, and then I tried to open the chat app to add him as a friend and the keyboard was tiny, as if it was very far away, then the whole headset crashed and rebooted.

The thing is now that it rebooted, I have the old navigator back, the one that doesnt have the time or the battery indicator on the task bar, i have the old taskbar that has no time, no battery status and has the worlds icon back again - Even after doing a fresh reboot, it's still the old navigator task bar.... is there any way to get the updated one back, it is much better.  I am v83.

Can I get a response on this please, I waited patiently for 2 weeks thanks-   Why did my taskbar revert back to the old one that has no battery status on it?

Another update dated 7 Dec 2025 loads on to my Quest 2. I restart the headset because it doesn't complete starting and just hung up with a black screen. And also sometimes parts of updates require a restart to show up.

After watching a few videos in Skybox or Heresphere the new Navigator once again rears its ugly head.

Important information is either no longer available on inconvient to get to. Most tasks have at least one and as many as three extra steps to accomplish.

If you need an example of how not to design a UI/UX, choosing form over function, this version of Navigator is it.
