Quest 2 Cannot Connect to Any Wi-Fi After Factory Reset

Hello,

I’m having a serious issue with my Meta Quest 2.

Yesterday, everything worked normally. However, today when I turned on my Quest 2, it could not connect to any Wi-Fi network.

I have tried:

  • My home Wi-Fi
  • My iPhone hotspot
  • Forgetting and reconnecting to the network
  • Restarting the headset
  • Force restarting the headset
  • Performing a factory reset

Nothing fixed the problem.

Every time I enter the correct password, the headset briefly shows “Authenticating…”, then immediately says “Saved / Check your password”, even though the password is correct. My phone can connect to the same Wi-Fi and hotspot without any problems.

Because I performed a factory reset, I am now stuck on the setup screen and cannot complete the initial setup since the headset cannot connect to any Wi-Fi network.

Could you please help me resolve this issue? Is this a hardware problem, or is there another recovery method I can try?

Thank you.

Exactly the same issue just happened today, I have no idea how to fix this now, I have tried everything :(

I managed to connect both the headset and my phone to a hotspot. That went OK until I tried to proceed with the setup (after a factory reset), despite phone and app being connected to the same hotspot when I try to connect the app to the headset it can't see it and the app just freezes up, this is not good.

It seems to be a major bug affecting the Quest 2 unfortunately. It's a real bummer, there's a lot of complaints. Try talking to a human Meta Support person directly rather than an AI.

There is a link to some options here.. I'd try WhatsApp first and explain exactly the problem and the process. Good luck! Hopefully they'll fix it soon. 🤞🍀🍀

The same thing happened to me 3 or 2 days ago. I have tried the same things, not only that but my navigator stopped working in February. I hope they fix it soon.

Anyone found a solution to this?

spoke with my internet provider and raised it with meta and had no joy yet.

I have found a temporary fix for this that some people might find useful.

Just to recap first, I tried a factory reset but was then unable to complete the setup process even after connecting both the headset and my phone containing the meta app to a mobile hot-spot that I had created on my phone. This meant my Quest 2 headset was totally unusable.

There is a video on YouTube which explains how to create a meta developer account on a desktop computer and use that to setup the Quest 2 after a factory reset. The video is two years old but this idea still works as I have just done it. I would just add that I connected both the headset and my computer to a mobile hotspot I had created on my phone while I did this. It's a temporary fix until Meta sort this mess out but at least I can access and use the headset. I hope this helps somebody.

I am unable to post the YouTube link here it would seem but search for:

cliffhanger26 That is great.. I'm sure many Q2 owners will appreciate that, a temporary fix is better than none. Hopefully they'll fix it soon! 🤞🤞

Mobile hotspot works as does other WiFi connections. Seems to be the wifi that was connected at time of the update that is stuck on password screen

That is true but the app would not connect to my headset to complete the setup process even though they were both connected to the same hot-spot. I am not sure whether this is a part of the same issue or something else but the developer account work around method fixed it for me.

But with the developer account method, the headset will no longer connect to the Horizon mobile app, iirc?

All sorted now. There is a new update to run of you can get a mobile hotspot or log into a different WiFi connection
