Quest 3 Controllers are not aligned in game?

  • I’ve noticed that in a lot of games, (banter, bigscreen, pavlov, breachers) the hands don’t line up with where my controllers are pointing, instead they point outwards. This is not an issue with the quests menu ui, they line up fine when im navigating quest menus. It is in game where this appears.

NOT A SOLUTION - MARKING FOR VISABILITY

Hey guys! I wanted to let you know that I've been talking with our engineers for a while about this issue. They recommend that you reach out to support so you can see what replacement options might be available for you. I know this is not the ideal solution you were hoping for, but this may be able to help with re-aligning the controllers for your Quest 3's. If you follow this link, then follow the steps that best describe this issue, and you'll be able to send an email, chat, or WhatsApp message to support.

Yeah, there should be OS level customisation, since people might have custom controller addons (golf clubs, gun stocks, etc).

The Quest 3s has the same controllers as the Quest 3, so I guess it will have the same issue. Plus I think Quest Pro controllers are doing the same thing.

Yep, just filed a bug report about it earlier myself.
Hopped on my Q3 yesterday for the first time in a while, and the controllers pointer was off by a glaring amount. Tried to play Into the Radius 2 for a bit but ended up giving up after an hour of trying to get used to the pointer being off. The whole Hold A/X and press Quest/Home 5 times didn't work at all. and the controller still had the pointer issue after taking the battery out for a couple minutes. Probably gonna keep trying to see if there's anything I can do with it, or if I can get used to having my wrists canted inward.

Nearly a year since OP.

Still hoping for manual calibration, I would include the headset as well.

i noticed this too on the quest 3 instantly and its very annoying. give us a way to modify the pointing direction, its too much to the right currently.

This has been an issue since MQ3 Launch. How is it so hard to make these controllers point straight. It has destroyed my wrist, and I am discontinuing the use of the Quest 3 until this can be patched. This is now an ergonomic issue and I am recommending alternate headsets to members of my community now. This issue is over a year old now. Get you Sh*t together meta.

Out of interest. Anyone got a quest 3s and having the same problem? Surely Meta would of fixed the alignment issue before releasing the Q3s, but I’m guess no.

I was thinking of buying a Q3s for my partner but like many other people, I’m holding off from buying until I know there is a solution for the Q3 alignment issue. She currently uses the Q2 and plays games that will be impacted by the controller alignment issue if she moves to a Q3.

Please don't spend hundreds more on new hard when this can be fixed at the software level as proven by the few devs with a yaw offset on their games. I have pinched a radial nerve as a result of trying to use the quest 3 in its current state. I don't even feel right selling my quest 3 just so it can hurt someone else. This thing is an ergonomic nightmare in the current state but Meta form my money so they don't care what happens to me now. Look at the length of this thread and ask if a competent company would allow this. $1.9 billion in annual profit but no money for a 15 degree offset to prevent nerve damage.

Someone with injuries should start suing Meta for this, maybe this will work as they are clearly interested in their cutomers money only. What a shame.

I've played After the Fall, from SteamVR. It has some quirks, like that I loose track one of my hands, until I tap in and out of mixed reality mode. I was happy to find the option to add an offset to the yaw and pitch of the controllers. 😄 If only Meta and/or SteamVR added this trivial feature, games wouldn't need to implement it again and again.

I've found a feature request post in the SteamVR Discussions forum. I've upped that post. Can you all please come there and back that up? Maybe Valve will listen and be better than Meta.

Do we have any Quest 3S owners who can confirm this affects them too?

So far (looking back over this thread) I've only seen one second hand report of 3S users, no first hand reports.

Also Touch Pro owners. I've seen one report of Touch Pro on a Quest Pro doing it. How about Touch Pro on a Quest 2 and Quest 3?

If Meta sendd me some free Quest Pro controllers, I can test them.  🙂

I just went to play Bonelab on my Quest 3 with Airlink, the hands were so annoying I quit. (Usually I play it with my Rift-S).

I pre ordered the Quest 3 and have had these issues from day 1.  I am a first hand user of the quest 3.  They don't care.  Its still misaligned.  Last product I'll purchase from meta.  They haven't given a single bit of support for this.  It teaches bad practices.

I've also seen this about the pro controllers on the quest 3.
