Question

Quest Link compositor instability with Meta Horizon Link 207 after NVIDIA Studio Driver 616.92

I am reporting what appears to be a regression involving Quest Link after updating to NVIDIA Studio Driver 616.92.

System configuration:

Quest 3

Alienware Area-51 laptop

NVIDIA RTX 5090 Laptop GPU (24 GB)

Intel Core Ultra 9 275

64 GB RAM

Windows 11

Meta Horizon Link version 207.0.0.133.434

Unreal Engine 5.7.4

The issue is not specific to Unreal Engine.

The Quest works normally in standalone mode.

When Quest Link is enabled, one of two things happens.

Open Dash remains on "Attempting to connect to PC" indefinitely.

Or, PCVR opens successfully but the headset displays severe rendering artifacts.

The rendering artifact consists of a correct image in the center of the headset surrounded by a wide black border with irregular zigzag edges. Outside that border are repeated gray zigzag patterns and duplicated fragments of the scene that resemble a lattice.

The PC monitor renders the scene correctly.

The same rendering artifact occurs with Unreal Engine completely closed while simply navigating the Meta PCVR environment. This indicates that the issue occurs in the Meta Horizon Link compositor rather than inside Unreal Engine.

Troubleshooting performed:

Clean installation of NVIDIA Studio Driver 616.56.

Updated to NVIDIA Studio Driver 616.92.

Multiple Windows restarts.

Verified Meta Horizon Link is the active OpenXR runtime.

Verified Unreal OpenXR plugin is enabled.

Forced Meta Horizon Link executables to use the RTX 5090 in Windows Graphics Settings.

Tested multiple USB ports.

Tested two different Quest Link cables.

Verified Quest operates normally in standalone mode.

Verified Unreal renders correctly on the PC monitor.

Collected Meta Horizon Link diagnostic logs.

Collected Unreal Output Log.

None of these steps resolved the issue.

Our university IT department and another student independently reproduced similar Meta Horizon Link instability on separate laboratory systems after updating to the recent NVIDIA Studio Driver.

Meta diagnostic logs have already been submitted through the Quest headset bug reporting system.

Has anyone else experienced similar Quest Link compositor artifacts or instability with Horizon Link 207 and recent NVIDIA Studio Drivers, particularly on RTX 50-series hardware?

Thanks for reporting this. I also noticed issues after the NVIDIA Studio Driver update.

Have you tried rolling back to the previous Game Ready Driver?

Also try disabling Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows.

Hope Meta fixes this in v2.08

Downgrading your gpu drivers should help.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.  Rolling back the drivers and the Meta Horizon Link to the last known working versions seems to have solved this issue.
