Question

Add optional "IGNORE" feature to the forums.

There's a lot of noise
on these forums and it has caused my right index finger to grow unnaturally
large and muscular from all the exercise it gets scrolling past posts with
questionable value in otherwise interesting threads, usually attributable to
the same individuals.  It's like an itch that won't quit.  Therefore, I think it would be nice to have an "IGNORE"
feature available tied to user accounts.

I'm not personally a fan of features like Ignore... I think it has a tendency to fragment a discussion if the participants aren't all on the same page. Even annoying posts might have a good point that steers the discussion (or a ridiculous point that also takes the conversation in a different direction).

Anyway, I won't use an Ignore feature--I like to know what's being said, whether I agree with the point of view or not. If someone is talking shite, it's easy enough to skim through it quickly and move on.

I'm sure I will be on many Ignore lists, and I'm certainly okay with that. This is the generation of Safe Space, and people do need their protective bubble. If this Ignore feature had been here months ago, I probably wouldn't have been banned lol

Feature suggestion: can we apply new Forum Ranks for people who use the Ignore list?

    For example:

    1) Adding 1-5 people to your Ignore List = Magical Unicorn
    2) Adding 6-10 people to your Ignore List = Funshine Bear
    3) Adding 11-20 people to your Ignore List = Unsliced Fruitcake
    4) Adding 21+ people to your Ignore List = Fairy Princess

Instead of the ignore Button can't we just post a pic after a particularly bad post ?

Completely agree with this, and in fact... in this case you are 100% correct.

kevin, the OP, posted this thread
immediately after I typed a response to him that he didn't like in another
    thread:
    https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/comment/481383/#Comment_481383

However, prior to my post to kevin, he had made a chastising response to jayhawk:
    https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/comment/481370/#Comment_481370

So we can already see how this Ignore List feature is going to be used:

    1) jayhawk makes a new thread about VR
    2) kevink808 chastises jayhawk
    3) zenbane chastises kevink808
    4) kevink808 scrambles to find the Ignore List

People want to be able to talk poop without getting poop back, which isn't the best reason to have an Ignore List. In this case it will only be used as a tool to extend someones negative behavior and intentions. I've seen this many times on many forums. But perhaps we need to play it out for awhile. I anticipate the end-result will be similar to what I've seen in years past... people who actually use the Ignore List will end up feeling left out of many discussions and not understand the jokes people are saying.

    Good times ahead lol

It will be used by snowflakes to show they disagree with your views and create themselves a safe-space and fanbois to show they disagree with your choice of headset.

Most "Ignore" features I've see used in forums don't actually inform the person that you ignored them.  It's a passive feature that actually gives more control to each individual.  I just don't see what's wrong with empowering people further.  I don't know about you, but I don't use this except to ignore people who spam or troll.  Trolls would pretty much be rendered mute and they would move on from boredom because reactive stimuli no longer is present.

It's hardly useless.  I think most people agree with that, hence the poll status so far.  Can't you just ignore the Ignore feature if you don't want to use it?  I mean, the only people who should be annoyed by this are those who feel they would be ignored.  I don't think the grown-ups among us would be ignored at all.

The word "Troll" is over-used and abused in this day and age. People call anyone who disagrees with them a Troll, and end up using an Ignore list as a weapon. Which is what makes it useless as a beneficial utility.
