Nintendo VR. Why am I getting deja vu...yeah, I'll pass.

I would love to play Mario Bros. in VR. I would probably die a lot if it was First Person view. Because I would just look for all the high-jump areas and look down the entire time. Cloud levels? Hell yeah.

Glad to hear that Virtual Boy 2.0 may actually be a thing (and if they don't call it that I'm gonna be disappointed).  I knew the kings of gimmicky video game peripherals (and 3D handhelds) couldn't miss the VR boat.

Their concerns about whether people could comfortably play it for long are a little confusing though, for a number of reasons.  First off, isn't this the company that has been shoe-horning in "You should take a break!" warnings into most of their games for the past few years? Now they want to make sure people can binge-game for hours without headaches? Make up your mind, Nintendo.

Plus, y'know... I guess they haven't done their VR research, or they'd know VR causes LESS eye-strain than flatscreens due to not having to keep your eyes focused at the same distance for hours.  Now, a poorly-designed and uncomfortable HMD might cause issues due to neck-strain or being too tight on the head or stuff like that, but it's already been proven that that won't stop people from buying a VR system. :kissing_heart:

P.S.  If Switch does get VR functionality it better have a 3DS emulator mode.  Set us up with a Bigscreen-style virtual screen to play those games on, I'd be all over that.
It's hard being the voice of reason when you're surrounded by unreasonable people.

The Switch Doesn't have the Tech for good VR.  Unless it will harness the power of your phone and Google cardboard lol

Nintendo President Kimishima Confirms That Switch Is Powerful Enough for VR

Aye, in terms of raw numbers, the current guesstimates for the Switch puts compute power at between 1 & 1.5 teraflops ... not bad for a handheld. Certainly capable enough of generating a VR experience.

(Edit: looks like the Initial compute figures were floating point 16 not 32... Switch is roughy 0.4 Tflops compared to XBO 1.31 Tflops and PS4 1.84 Tflops)

President Kimishima's interview with the Time was quite a good read.

Was fretting a little over getting a Switch, but the decision was taken out of my hands on Wednesday morning. My two year old PC went up in a small puff of smoke... New cpu, mobo, memory and gfx card on their way... Getting a Switch will have to wait.

Reviews out there to-date seems to be pretty underwhelming. Doesn't look good long-term.

Well, I want to have this and try it. I'll give it a chance though. Zelda seems cool!
