I'm not in San Francisco, but I'm within reasonable driving distance. However, traveling into the city is very stressful and inconvenient for me so I try to avoid it whenever possible. So I probably will not crash the event.
In-N-Out is great, though if you aren't getting animal style, Five Guys is probably a bit better. I really want to try some authentic Canadian poutine, but I'm not sure I'll ever make it out there. I here there is a place that has good poutine in Los Angeles, which I'm pretty close to, I should give it a shot.
Chips should come with fish or a pie, not burgers!
I think this is looking at the issue in reverse. It's not about what should chips come with, but what should come with chips. For that, we should all agree that "everything comes with chips" is the only answer. :)
Although if we are talking about what should chips come with, I'd say crumbed sausages. Mmmmmm.
I think you're limiting the potential of fries/chips by trying to put them in a box. They're potatoes, and all of the traditional potato toppings work great, chives, sour cream, bacon, cheese, chili. They're also great with meat, a bit of pulled pork or even a tender cut of beef in some barbecue sauce works great. While they're great on their own and don't really need anything, they can also work and taste good with just about any topic, hence why the potato is the perfect food.
