Question

Shipping no longer delayed? + First Impressions!

I'm putting this in off-topic, since I don't want to get in anybodies way, and I know its mostly due to my own supidity and lack of presence.

I've been avoiding Rift news for a few months while I saved up to get one. I may not be a developer, but I'm a gamer who likes to test things to try to help out that way.
I ordered mine and expected to see it in a month or two, but from what I've seen in the forums, shipping is no longer a big issue? I even saw "Shipping takes 3-5 business days" on the order screen.

So my question is, has the current state of shipping improved or the sales died down enough that shipping only takes a few weeks?
UK order, by the way.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

EDIT
Since a lot of us have shared the experience of waiting for our Rifts to arrive, how about sharing our first impressions as well?

I reckon us lot should start another thread after they've all been delivered for our first time rift experience's, what do you think? :?:

Once your Oculus Arrives, just post how you got on with setting it up, how it handled, what you game/demo you tried first and anything else related!

I just realised that lol, I've followed the read me but still having trouble :?

Also I'm really eager to get the 3D working! I have heard people don't seem to be having any difficulty with the 2D and I've also got another player that plays all other files fine, thanks for trying to help though. I'm going to go for Cinema experience first as quite a few people have said the "presence" is unbelievable so wanted the 3D effect as well :ugeek:

Well according to the player I linked before, it even says as a selling point that it plays SBS 3D perfectly, so I guess until you work out why you can't get it working in VR Cinema, you can always use that for those files.

Nevermind, can't seem to even find a download link for that one, since the one on the side I linked is broken lol

Yeah that's it, it's annoying as the file plays like a dream without the cinema just can't seem to work out what's stopping in the cinema, was looking forward to be able to message people saying "Just chilling out watching Avatar 3D in a virtual reality Cinema" :D

This may sound like a silly question but..
Have you turned the SBS setting on when you're in the cinema?

Yeah I changed it from inside the cinema if that's what you mean? On the pop up display so you just end up with 2 screens instead of 4 and even with a demo vid that's saved in windows it plays exactly the same so I don't think it's the file there must just be a setting I have to change :?

    I'm not sure. I don't have any 3D video's that I can check..
Although, how do you know it's not working? You don't have you Oculus Rift yet lol

No not yet but the file the 3d movie is on plays fine in any other media player SDS, just not when played through the VR Cinema, obviously I'm only watching on the monitor but I'm guessing will still be the same when the rift gets here Monday I could be wrong though?

I just downloaded a movie, and made sure it was 3D. The 3D seems to work fine, although I don't know if the 3D is fine since I'm just using the monitor.
Maybe the file type is just wrong or VR Cinema can't force that file type into 3D? Try another movie maybe, see if anything works in 3D or not, cause if not then maybe you should redownload VR Cinema.

(Slight issue with mine though. Doesn't play sound, and I can't work out why..)

Yeah I have re-downloaded the cinema a few times now and I'd also changed the file name to movie.avi which I don't think needs to be done, the sound is really quiet btw but does work on the file I downloaded, btw the picture is out of this world on any other player other than the cinema like I was saying I really don't think it's the file as a demo vid that was pre-installed in windows also runs exactly the same as Avatar 3D, I'm not going to worry as many people have said they're getting the 3D and sound working perfect together. I really think it's just a matter of set up

Probably, not to mention the program itself is pretty new, barely a beta and has lots of problems playing things at it's early stage. Maybe given a month or two, the problem will be fixed for you lol

I've done Minecraft, not done Skyrim though.
I've only done Minecraft so far, as well as downloading a load of Demo's.

Need to do Skyrim, just worried since I know you can't play the game that way, but still really want to try it. Don't wanna screw up all the mods I've already got

    I've used this guide http://riftmod.com/how-to-skyrim-and-oculus-rift-with-a-fixed-hud/
nothing crashed, Im using latest version with all 3 dlc's installed, i also have all kinds of mods installed (terrain, weather, armor, weapons, bodies)

Followed that guide, now my Skyrim just crashes :(
After about 2 hours of reinstalling everything, tweaking, endless googling, realise that at the bottom of the guide it says
"A new version of Vireio Perception has been released breaking compatibility with several games. Use the this specific version of Vireio Perception to get Skyrim working as published."
    And that doesn't work either.
