FOV is good especially the vertical FOV, I cannot actually see the top or bottom (maybe slight bit at bottom).

If they can push out the horizontal FOV a bit more next time as well that would be great.

With the CV1 there was this binocular kind of view. I would describe the index as a wider oval feel as you can see the left and right curves but still not in an in your face kind of way.

Excuse the crude quick drawing, Cv1 left, Index right

That's quite accurate - also measured as a square, fov is like 40 % bigger.

Did go back to Lucky's Tale, and remembered that of course I've tried 144 hz before. My problem with that game is that Lucky seems animated to fit 90 hz, and 120 and 144 hz (maybe 80 too) will cause some animation glitches - not anything severe and it's only affecting Lucky (not the opponents), but I do notice the small glitches. Everything else in the game works fine in 144 hz and res 200% though. The big fov and res 200% do make the game look incredible even in 90 hz.

Fujii still feels like some kind of 144 Hz reference experience, maybe because all animations aren't made with fixed fps, but will be lifted to full 144 fps.

Btw, Feral Rites didn't work with Revive - the game kept asking for a XBox controller, even when the game does work with Touch. I did try to turn on a XBox controller and restarted the game, but still got the controller error.

Tested using Revive 1.9.2.

Another reason for keeping the CV1 plugged in  B)

Funny how the old and maybe by many forgotten stuff looks and plays so much better than many recent unpolished semi-garbage indie titles. Then again, Oculus did invest in Feral Rites, and it's made by the devs behind Stormland. Annoying that it does not work - SDE is quite pronounced in the game using CV1 ss 2.0, but still looks great.

Btw, still having a blast with Chronos - and tried to sell that idea to the hardcore Oculus/Facebook haters, lol:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/k83g3g/chronos_is_truly_an_aaa_experience_with_the_index/

Still haven't gotten totally downvoted  :D Strange that many dislike Facebook so much that they will rather stick with their many mediocre and inferior SteamVR titles instead of Reviving some of the most awesome VR content ever made.

Chronos works fine using 120+ hz, but will need a very fast gpu for that. Chronos with max in-game graphics settings, Index res 200% and 144 hz probably will require at least RTX 3080.
I'm running the game using Index res 150 %, max in-game graphics settings and 90 hz - those settings work great,it's not solid 90 fps, but motion smoothing works like a charm when needed :)

Funny I was thinking of reviving Chronos a few days ago. I got to a certain point before and couldn't kill one of the bosses and then other things came up.

Had Chronos for nearly 3 years, and that annoying save game design really stopped me from playing. Interesting that so many devs fail at making a simple save game option like we have in Alyx. Why the need for all those non-intelligent save points (checkpoints), I'd like to save my game when I want to. Might be the biggest issue with Chronos. 2c.

Btw, Brass Tactics being a bright game really shines with Index too - much better than CV1.

Well, my nice new Index controllers arrived today so I guess I'm now at least a 1/2 member of the Index club, lol!

No problem pairing these to my Vive Pro and updating their firmware (took less than 10 minutes to do).  I'm mainly starting out testing my Steam and VivePort games that currently support Index controllers.  Later I'll play around with Revive 1.9.2 and the few Oculus store titles (like Lone Echo) that may benefit from a higher res oled headset.

I was hoping that my Vive wireless adapter might come in handy (for games like Howard's Heart) but when I reinstalled it last week my results with most of my sims and more complex games were not very good.  The wireless adapter is way too much of a CPU resource hog (even with my i9 9900k at 5Ghz on all cores, water cooled).  I probably now have a better understanding as to why Valve has not pushed out a wireless adapter for the Index.  High res PCVR headsets are going to need better technology than we currently have imho.

I hate to say this but I now think my Quest 1 wireless w/Virtual Desktop overall works better (albeit lower res, but still oled) and an external 10000mahr battery pack gives much longer wireless runtimes (~2hrs w/VP, ~6hours total with Q1 w/VD).  The real crazy thing is that I paid about the same for my Vive wireless adapter with Pro accessory kit as I did for my Quest 1, lol!

My first impression of my Index controllers (and I know 1st impressions are often not all that accurate or useful) is that while they are definitely nicer to use than my Vive wands, they are still not nearly as comfortable as my Oculus touch controllers (cv1 and Q1).  I probably just need to spend a lot more time with them and play with fitting them to a more comfortable position so I can more easily access thumbsticks/buttons/grips/triggers all at the same time.  I've also ordered a 3rd party Index controller pad clip-on to see if this will help or not.

Lastly, while the Oculus touch controllers are always very predictable for game controls, the Index controllers often seem to take Vive wand controller actions with my Steam and VivePort games (I imagine that this is also going to be the same with Revive).  I was expecting the Index controllers to automatically mirror touch controllers but this does not often seem to be the case.  I have tried a few user bindings that help, but none are perfect.  I guess I'll just need to learn how to custom bind these things (oh boy!).

Like with most new things, it takes a while to adapt to them imho.  I think I'll try to avoid using my touch controllers for the next week or two and just concentrate on using my Index controllers.  Hopefully they will then start to feel a little more natural in my hands.

Be sure to get the adjustments right (last half of the page):

Knuckles will emulate Touch only when using Revive. If a game does not support Index controllers, but Wands, then they'll emulate Wands.

But you need to try Alyx. Alyx is the only game to truly support the Index controllers.

And welcome the owners' club of true 2nd gen controllers, although you may have to unlearn previous habits ;)

I still like Touch, but I greatly prefer Knuckles.

Btw, just got my new Samsung EVO 860 4TB SSD today, hope to be ready for Medal of Honor soon, lol.

Thanks Rune,
I'll probably start off with Alyx from the start and hopefully finally finish it, lol!  By the time I do this I'm sure my Index controllers will feel a lot more natural.  Cheers.
