Here's mine...

I'm a huge fan of The Metal but I think I'll start with some of my legendary, less angry, favorites.

Probably my favorite band of all time across all genres is Primus. I've seen them live twice, and I've seen Les Claypool live in his solo act once.

It all started with "Jerry was a Race car driver"

For those who don't know Les, fun fact: he once audition for Metallica and they denied him based solely on the fact that he is far too damn good for them.

I've seen tons of bands live (Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Korn, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Lamb of God - to name a few). But Primus is the band that showed me first hand the largest mosh pit I've ever seen, and it was to this mighty cute song:

A few thousand people went ape shit at the 1:37 mark.

I hold in high regard just about everything Claypool releases; if I had to pick a favorite song it is simply, Here Come The Bastards

Talking Heads are awesome - that is one of my favourite concerts. One of the best filmed concerts of all time - up there with The Last Waltz.

I still think as a band they were better a few years prior - when Adrian Belew was with them:

They were a little less rehearsed and a little edgier and improvisational. David Byrne however from Stop Making Sense onward into his solo career has shown such far reaching growth in his abilities as both a songwriter and a performing artist.

@Wildt

When I saw Sting he messed up the first verse to Paul Simon's The Boxer and had a good laugh about it on stage. I get that he is more concentrated on the music.

But as a musician - I would 10 times out of 10 pay to see the nondescript band who can play crazy good over the band that can play decent pop/rock grooves but have a wild front man.

That said - I don't think that stage presence and musicianship are mutually exclusive and it is possible to have both. Sting might not be an out there stage performer, but his cool intensity is the performance.

I am looking forward to seeing more of Future Islands - and am intrigued to hear their studio stuff where the band might have more far reaching musical aspirations.

@Brixmis

I love when musicians make gaffes - the really good ones can keep playing and maybe even incorporate it in a way that you don't even realize it was a mistake.

I like to listen to the Scorpions, their songs will live forever! I wish I wouldn't be so lame at playing music. I've always wanted to learn to play some sort of musical instrument, at least a midi-keyboard! I even found the best choice for amateur players here http://musiety.com/ and ordered it to my house. And what do you think? Hours of practicing and no result at all! Damn, guess I gonna listen to my favourite songs rather than playing them...so sad...

Used to be my fave tune at one time - in another life, long, long ago.

But as you reminded me of it....

lately, whenever im about to throw on the rift I like to get pumped with some I.D.M (kind of like EDM but way cooler) - bands like autechre, boards of canada, WATMM, etc

 lately here is my go-to for some aphex twin craziness:
