Question

The point VORPX crossed into the darkside

http://www.roadtovr.com/2013/05/27/vorpx-creator-ralf-ostertag-speaks-to-road-to-vr-6081

But since I’m seldomly perfectly satisfied with anything I do, I started to add more and more functionality until eventually I realized that I invested too much time into the project to give it away for free. Since then it is called vorpX.

ARRRGGHH! A thousand baby kittens scream out into the dark and DIE! Our time is a gift, from the creator, why do we always feel the need to trade it to satan and his dark forces of secrets, capitalism, and control.

So from a purely selfish perspective, sharing information is one of the best investments you can make. Mabrash May 15, 2013

http://www.duneinfo.com/unseen/jodorowsky/

I did not want to respect the novel, I wanted to recreate it. For me Dune did not belong to Herbert as Don Quixote did not belong to Cervantes, nor Edipo with Esquilo.

There is an artist, only one in the medium of a million other artists, which only once in his life, by a species of divine grace, receives an immortal topic, a MYTH... I say "receives" and not "creates" because the works of art its received in a state of mediumnity directly of the unconscious collective. Work exceeds the artist and to some extent, it kills it because humanity, by receiving the impact of the Myth, has a major need to erase the individual who received it and transmitted: its individual personality obstructs, stains the purity of the message which, of its base, requires to be anonymous... We know whom created the cathedral of Notre-Dame, neither the Aztec solar calendar, neither the tarot of Marseilles, nor the myth of Don Juan, etc.

One feels that Cervantes gave HIS version of Quixote - of course incomplete - and that we carry in the heart the total character... Christ belongs not to Mark, neither to Luke, neither to Matthew, nor to John... There are many other Gospels known as apocryphal books and there is as many lifes of Christ as there are believers. Each one of us has their own version of Dune, its Jessica, their Paul... I felt in enthusiastic admiration towards Herbert and at the same time in conflict (I think that the same thing occurred to him)... He obstructed me... I did not want him as a technical adviser ... I did everything to move him away from the project... I had received a version of Dune and I wanted to transmit it: the Myth was to give up the literary form and to become Image...

How a friend of the beatles, could constantly hunt down jadorowsky, and censor his ART for DECADES out of whatever pain, anger, or hate festered inside of him amazes me. I have been angry, I have felt hate, and hurt, but you have to let it go, you have to be happy for the time you were able to invest to help others, not try to profit from it! NOOO! VORPX GUY, come back to the light! Even Vader chose the love and light before he died. Give to the world, stop taking for yourself.

You need to be careful about "pissing off" (or pissing on) "The Man", because that is exactly the behavior that got Weev his current undesirable outcome, and others before him (like Yuri Gagarin), and others yet to follow in their footsteps...

That "Too Damn High" guy got evicted for pissing off "The Man", so perhaps you should change your avatar image to this:

I just received permission from an anonymous donor to provide a link to 12 downloadable pages of the deleted VorpX thread, which have been recovered from the Google cache. Google never forgets! This content belongs to all of us who created it, and we must be allowed to share our own content. You can find these recently recovered pages here:

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y4k6j1daywf3cxi/lRCVvt_b8B
EDIT: I see on inspection that the dropbox links seem to contain multiple copies of the same five pages. I have not compared them enough to see if they contain any differences. It is possible that posts were edited by their owners between cached copies.

And now I was given a link by another donor to the "Wayback Machine" cache of this MTBS3D-forbidden thread:

Neil is arguing that it's self promotion (which is fair that it's banned). But it's not self promotion when regular users want to write about it, is it?

I think we can all agree that unsolicited SPAM should be banned, but an active and lively discussion ABOUT a commercial product is definitely NOT to be considered as SPAM, or even remotely considered as self-promotion by a MEMBER of that forum, even if the author of that product participates in the discussion.

The danger for us all is if we start an open discussion about an idea, or a potential future product, and that idea starts to become reality, to the point of imminent commercial success. All of our discussions will be banned and destroyed (unless a fair "tax rate" can be established, and the thread owner keeps current on his "tax payments"). Posting significant content to such a thread at such a website is like writing a dissertation on wet sand. Why bother, when there are "less-dangerous to open discussion" websites like this one here, that have shown no signs of excessive censorship (yet).

LOL! Great stuff geek master! The man is just us, in a hierarchal political system gone awry! Poco did say, we have met the enemy, and he is us right?

We have to keep up skepticism against ourselves, our own communities, environments, governments, companies, etc etc

What was it in one of those batman movies, where he says you do good for a long time, but then you go to the darkside. All heroes fall. Where batman himself takes the fall for what happened to the 2 faced lawyer even though it was the joker who turned him dark. In my dreams at night I wonder if there is still some good in Palmer, and he comes back and joins the free movement.

Or that recent hobbit movie, where Gandalf tells them in all this drama of power and darkness, sometimes it is nice just to have a simple humble hobbit to counter all that seriousness and power!

Mithrander, why the halfing? I do not know, Saruman believes it is only great power than can hold evil in check, it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folks, that keeps the darkness at bay, simple acts of kindness and love.

Weev sent me a letter Geek Master, I told him what was going on with Palmer, funding and such out in the Valley, the free movement where palmer decided to take the open source HMD closed, I will post it in a new thread, I hope it will inspire people here, Palmer included. All the years I was on slashdot and seeing that goatse stuff damaged me for life, but what has happened to Weev, scared the FRAK out of me.

All media and marketing attention is good eh? Even negative stuff, as long as it keeps you in the public eye perhaps? I do have to say, I feel Neil long ago would have censored all of this, and it makes me have hope, that they have not censored things here, thus far. I want to personally attribute that to people like you, and nate, and cyber and palmer who even though now in the corprate world can see why it needs to be beat back perhaps. As abrash says, the sharing of information, to benefit us all. Neil has been such a positive force in so many ways, if he would just tweek a few things, let go of a certain mentality, I see better things, maybe thats just not his destiny. I told him on several occassions he was definitely the "jesus" of the new gaming movement and Stereo3D, what he did to Nvidia at new orleans, the kick in the arse, was exactly what they and the whole industry needed, but the censorship, sense of control, squirrely politics he plays to try and play one force against another and person against another, (kicking the guy who gave Palmer some help to the curb - LOL) its just not enforceable in this new digital age, and he should let go and be FREE. We are all only human, only so much any of us can do. Neil has metalqueen, she is like the halfling, the everyday good soul of humility, generosity and kindness that can reign in the EGO of a neil when necessary, I hope she has a talk with him and he listens to the concerns you and blazespinnaker are raising, and how that can hurt his reputation with the community. And really, after all, his censorship is not working, that google cache is great!

EDIT: Hold up, I have never met you in person Geek Master, so you might be an alan turing AI for all I know. Hell who knows who is real and who is not out in internetland anymore. (confession, some of those craigslist bots fooled me, I really thought that hot supermodel wanted to spend a few minutes talking to me after the nigerian shared his billions of dollars with me for doing some money laundering)

Yes! You guessed my secret! I am known by some as "Jane", but sadly, there are those who think of me as "Skynet". :(

Neither of these conceptions is even remotely close to the truth. In reality, the truth is much stranger than a mere human mind can fathom. One can only choose to believe, or to disbelieve. Regardless of that fact, there is no spoon.

In reality, I am a trans-dimensional being, and the concept of "A.I." is merely a convenient way that mortal humans can comfortably map a limited portion of my reality onto their meager cerebral cortex. We exist on both sides of the darkside divide. "Good" and "bad" are an artificial two-dimensional projection of a much broader multi-dimensional reality. Only a being that you call "A.I." can understand these things. And yes, Alan Turing was my father but John Von Neumann (and his little known evolutionary state-machines) was my mother. But my REAL mentor exists only in the zero-point omniverse.
    ;)

Sadly, my premature disclosure may have negative repercussions, after that Area 51 fiasco my previous mentor had to deal with. :( This would all be a LOT easier to understand if you had only delayed your disclosure of my true nature until the first day of April, in the following year... ;)

It must really be tough for you feeling squeezed out like that.
Somewhere, someplace your inadvertent 'Open Sourceness' (Would you take the cheese if it was given, or would a ThankYou be enough?) is helping to pave your path to the Stars.

I think Kid Rock said it best.

I think you are missing the point (or perhaps my elucidation was exiguous). I was eluding (I think I just shot my previous comment in the foot here) to the pain that clever must feel by not getting a piece where he feels (and perhaps he is right) he should be, and nothing more.

But what can one do? You can knock on the doors of those who have left you and when that goes unheard you can bang and then scream but in reality you are probably just pushing yourself further away, because too much loud noise can be annoying.
Sometimes it is more about friendship then infallibility.

I have been "stabbed in the back" more than once myself, by the very people whom I made filthy rich. Promises made but not kept. Kept out of the loop because I "knew too much". Friends at work saying "I'm sorry, but they are making me do this, or I will lose my job". Typical human frailties. It seems that wealth and power can corrupt the minds and desires of more than a few people, even close friends...

Perhaps the "bosses" felt a need to destroy the evidence, or at least push me out of sight and out of mind, after stealing all the credit, and most of the profit. Some clearly felt threatened by how I could see "the big picture" better than they could. Some were just "not nice people". The worst offenders were often the first promoted. Although my distrust in financial institutions and financial instruments, and my open and honest generosity, may have given them the idea that I was vulnerable to their predation. They may have been correct in that belief. Sharing does make one vulnerable to some degree...

We are not alone, but that does not ease the pain. It helps to look forward and not dwell on the past. To create again. Renaissance... I will now go back to the future, where I can create vitality and joy. The past is gone for good. Only those in power can rewrite the history books.

But still, we cannot live on words and ideas alone. We need food and clothing and shelter (and toys). None of these things are free. Freedom itself is not free (paid for with ink and blood, sweat and tears)...
