Question

The point VORPX crossed into the darkside

http://www.roadtovr.com/2013/05/27/vorpx-creator-ralf-ostertag-speaks-to-road-to-vr-6081

But since I’m seldomly perfectly satisfied with anything I do, I started to add more and more functionality until eventually I realized that I invested too much time into the project to give it away for free. Since then it is called vorpX.

ARRRGGHH! A thousand baby kittens scream out into the dark and DIE! Our time is a gift, from the creator, why do we always feel the need to trade it to satan and his dark forces of secrets, capitalism, and control.

http://www.duneinfo.com/unseen/jodorowsky/

I did not want to respect the novel, I wanted to recreate it. For me Dune did not belong to Herbert as Don Quixote did not belong to Cervantes, nor Edipo with Esquilo.

There is an artist, only one in the medium of a million other artists, which only once in his life, by a species of divine grace, receives an immortal topic, a MYTH... I say "receives" and not "creates" because the works of art its received in a state of mediumnity directly of the unconscious collective. Work exceeds the artist and to some extent, it kills it because humanity, by receiving the impact of the Myth, has a major need to erase the individual who received it and transmitted: its individual personality obstructs, stains the purity of the message which, of its base, requires to be anonymous... We know whom created the cathedral of Notre-Dame, neither the Aztec solar calendar, neither the tarot of Marseilles, nor the myth of Don Juan, etc.

One feels that Cervantes gave HIS version of Quixote - of course incomplete - and that we carry in the heart the total character... Christ belongs not to Mark, neither to Luke, neither to Matthew, nor to John... There are many other Gospels known as apocryphal books and there is as many lifes of Christ as there are believers. Each one of us has their own version of Dune, its Jessica, their Paul... I felt in enthusiastic admiration towards Herbert and at the same time in conflict (I think that the same thing occurred to him)... He obstructed me... I did not want him as a technical adviser ... I did everything to move him away from the project... I had received a version of Dune and I wanted to transmit it: the Myth was to give up the literary form and to become Image...

How a friend of the beatles, could constantly hunt down jadorowsky, and censor his ART for DECADES out of whatever pain, anger, or hate festered inside of him amazes me. I have been angry, I have felt hate, and hurt, but you have to let it go, you have to be happy for the time you were able to invest to help others, not try to profit from it! NOOO! VORPX GUY, come back to the light! Even Vader chose the love and light before he died. Give to the world, stop taking for yourself.

You may have to enable PMs, I think they were disabled by default.

Go to "User Control Panel" (top left) -> "Board Preferences" -> "Allow users to send PMs".

I never turned mine on, and they work fine. Did the defaults change after I registered?

Perhaps more likely that the thread OP may have received flaming PMs and turned his off...

Ah, maybe it was fixed. Good to double-check anyway though.

You nailed it geekmaster, I will turn them back on now that it seems as though things may be calming down.

Thanks for the tip cyber, I can't remember for certain but I think mine were working from the start as well.

I don't know that clever will be coming back at any rate, it's kind of sad actually; I really just think he has some issues and needed somebody to talk to. Perhaps I shouldn't have been so quick to jump down his throat.

Actually, I enjoyed a lot of what he had to say. He seemed to want me to agree with him on everything though, especially over GPL-related issues (which I detest). There are things about RMS that I do not like, including his public posts about supporting both pedophilia and necrophila, and his video where he peels crap off his bare foot and eats in on camera, and people saying his lack of personal hygiene burns their nose and makes their eyes water when he enters the room. An Anti-business and anti-social socialist, and the hero of cleverusername/martinlandau/william*. I cannot agree with any of that. I am a fan of MIT/BSD/WTFPL licensing, but never GPL. And for that, I was drifting into his "field of fire". Oh well. I was thinking we could be friends before it started heading south. He wants disciples, not friends, I think...

But ending on a happier note, I really like the new demoscene and shadertoy threads here. Awesome stuff, and right up my alley, so to speak. :D

I just wanted him to put less weird crap into his posts so I could figure out wtf the point was.

I think 39 hours or so absence from a forum isn't enough time to declare someone MIA.
Probably needs to rest his fingers after all those massive posts. :)

I tend to believe that when 1) people have to write a book to make an argument they are just trying too hard and 2) trying to look smart. Especially when you have to use "examples" that are barely related to the topic like how a Russian cosmonaut wasn't given his due in history versus what will likely be a $10 software that they don't want to pay for.

Even I am long winded in many of my posts, but wow, this guy should just write books for a living because he really loves to type.

Naska, I support your rebellious spirit, That ulrich guy of silk road just went down, so use torrent wisely and as anonymously as possible - LOL! I think you would make the young palmer proud, but I am not sure about this older annakin - umm I mean Palmer, brevity is the soul of wit, my apologies to everyone for being long winded, too much time on my hands I suppose. (more now with these furloughs) GeekMaster, you have made a deep emotional impression on me, and I feel I have wronged you, I am going to try and correct this. I failed Palmer a long time ago (broken promises - I could have contacted him after neil booted me at modretro, I was just hurting too much) and I don't want to fail anyone else, I am going to try and be much more humble in my life going forward. You once said you perhaps a little cash would help you out (was it a unity license? I don't remember - please email me at martinlandau2007@yahoo.com and I will assist you to get any goodies I can, my money is the last thing I can give) KBK, if you read this, your words over at MTBS3D (which I have read almost every day since getting the boot years ago) gave me great strength in a time of severe pain, thank you immensely. For the rest, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vrkdBpWTQY&feature=c4-overview&list=UUFvfzANz6XvhAd1PArXWX9A A former colleague at IBM (IBM Australia), Peter Andrew Nolan, critical in the Sony PS3 rollout, many think he is crazy, but another man wronged in my eyes - similar to you GeekMaster - a lot of other people using him for all they could and now wish to admit him to a mental facility now that he is all used up, has many informative videos for those of you that want to hear about some good history at IBM, the court systems we exist under today, the dangers of marriage (heres looking at you Palmer if you haven't married yet) and just in general. Most importantly though, a product of the evil system we all exist under, wishing him to just die and go away, he is right, people don't try hard enough to help others anymore. I am on a base now and the commissary is closed and I have witnessed 4 soldiers already start punching each other :( My sister is on a base in another state and she says the gate guards didn't even show up there, (why bother with no pay) and she witnessed 3 fist fights. Society is so fragile. I don't want to be a disruptive force any longer than I have been, I am sorry.

I have just received a message from a moderator at Redditt that I am to be censored there and I suppose am too disruptive, I actually like him, so I won't name him, but I think that is dark and he should let everyone make up thier own minds and not be the thought police. Cyber and Palmer, I know I am irritating, but I want to thank you both for not kicking me to the curb like Neil did to me, it really does mean a lot to me. I hope I gave you some laughs. At the time Neil did that, I was in severe pain, my dad was on his death bed, and I can't even begin to express how much it hurt with words, perhaps I deserved it, but I really thought I had built up a better relationship with him than to just be excommunicated because of something he did breaking an NDA with paramount. I don't want to come here anymore though, frankly I just don't want to be on the internet anymore, the signal to noise ratio of good friendships seems low, I am in Seattle now, I plan to start hanging out at some local computer clubs, getting my medical marijuana (for my peripheral neuropathy) and write letters to people in jail like weev and visit them. Maybe do some side contracting work at lockheed if possible, Life is so short, I don't have too much longer left (the diabetes about to take my foot), I am going to miss you all, I had a good run on this planet, better than most. Please email me anyone if you ever want to talk or hang out in the Seattle area. Himitsu, I didn't leave because you were mean, I was just really busy at that point with family drama and work, its always good to stay critical of everyone, me, palmer, whoever, none of us are saints, keep that skeptic eye going. Too important in my own mind, time to fade away and let the rest carry the torch..... (As Abrash once said, these human egos we all have, dangerous, maybe gonna be the downfall of us all)
mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4123 I am looking into that LEEP VR I lack practical 3d knowledge, I have found some good links, but I am not sure if they are the ones you were talking about. Would you mind direct linking me to them?
