Question

Add Ukrainian language to Meta Horizon OS (or keyboard layout at least)

Greetings!

Many of you know what is happening in my country. And many of my friends and acquaintances have become owners of Quest headsets, looking for a little peace in virtual worlds. Its have allowed us to unite different parts of our country and support each other. And although many of us know English, we still communicate in our native Ukrainian, but due to the lack of a Ukrainian layout in the headset, we are unable to write messages to each other in our own language.

I understand that adding a whole new localization language can be a difficult and complex task, so I ask you to add at least a Ukrainian layout to the list of available ones in Meta Horizon OS to allow us to communicate freely.

Thank you Meta for your products and I hope that this request will be heard.

And thank you for your attention.

+1, I also own a Quest 2, and the fact that there is no Ukrainian language in the virtual keyboard layouts upset me, because I want to communicate with friends using the headset, but I have to take it off my head and put it on the bed or table, and then pick up the phone to write a few messages, it's very inconvenient.

Same problem with Turkish though English is fine for me. Don't hold your breath my friend..Neither of our locations are in the list of supported countries so it's unlikely we will get it until such time that we are added to the supported list. Hopefully it will happen soon, though we could be waiting years. Maybe they could at least add a keyboard in the meantime. Good luck.

Totally agreed. We need it as its essential to us. Further more Meta Horizon app switches to russian automatically while there is no chance to force it to english...

Ukraine is not one of the 24 officially supported countries for the Quest headset.. It's not going to happen until if and when Ukraine is one of those countries.  I'm in Türkiye and it's not supported here either. So, don't hold your breath. It might never happen.

Me, I'd like to see Meta add Silbo Gomero. It's a Spanish language, so it should be supported 😄.

ChuckSaldo It would be great. The language in the country I'm based isn't available either and until our countries are supported officially by Meta we are not going to get it. We are in non supported regions and do not even have a warranty. Don't waste your breath on this. If we get our language it will only be because we are an official sales region.. We should be pressuring them to sell the headsets officially in our country. Hopefully it will happen one day soon. ☘️🤞

BTW. I bought new quest 3 and after one month it was banned by meta as lost 🙈

Really sad. Thanks God the seller returned the money back.

Hello guys, it's 2026. I think u can easily add the language. If u can't add an official translation, add the AI-translated variants for the people who need it. It's not so hard to add in the settings the checkbox as "add generated translations until official is added". Meta spends billions on AI, so a 2-hour fix can be provided for all languages.

Cheers.

My friend, it could be 2036, but until Ukraine is added to the list of 23 officially supported countries, it's not going to happen, as devices in Ukraine are not covered by warranty or support. I'm in Türkiye, so it's the same situation. Hopefully our countries will get support before 2036, though I wouldn't hold my breath in anticipation. Also, if "you guys" is referring to Meta staff, there aren't any on this forum, just us users. If you look at the two people on your post, there is no activity on their accounts.  Meta stopped being here since Christmas unfortunately. Who knows if those two are even still working for Meta after the layoffs. Maybe they'll surprise us. 😂

Hi guys, maybe I’m missing something obvious, so please explain like I’m 5. I just got a Quest 3 and I love it. But I’m trying to type in my language — Ukrainian — and there’s no option. Only English, Spanish, French, German… and Russian. I’m not a political person, but this seems weird to me. Why does Meta add Russian keyboard layout but not Ukrainian? Isn’t Ukraine a huge market too? There are millions of Ukrainian users and tens of thousands developers (maybe more) in VR. I’m not trying to start a fight, I really just want to understand. Did Meta decide that Ukrainian language isn’t important enough? Or is it easier to support the country that’s currently bombing Ukraine than to support Ukraine? Again, maybe there’s a technical reason I don’t get. This is a question of inserting a ready-made language library into the API. This is a question of one developer's hour of work. But it will solve the problem of millions and bring benefits. Because soon they will go buy Steam Frame - there the language is a priori - and Meta will not count a few million. This is super stupid. Can someone from Meta explain why Russian is supported but Ukrainian isn’t? Thanks.

avenguru My friend, this question has been answered at least 5 times in this thread alone. Read them before asking the same question.

Russia is one of the 23 officially supported countries for Meta Quest headsets. There will be no Ukraine language support until Ukraine is added to the list of 23 officially supported countries, As devices in Ukraine are not covered by warranty or official support, for legal reasons it just won't happen. Only supported countries where Quest headsets are officially sold will get language support I'm in Türkiye, so it's the same situation. Hopefully our countries will be in the future , though I wouldn't hold your breath. Please, as I said, read the comments on the thread to avoid us having to repeat ourselves. Maybe you are 5, so I'll forgive you for having to repeat the same answers again. 😉
