'Continue in Your Browser' - App login

I am trying to log in to the Oculus App on my PC, I have plugged in my headset, I clicked  'Continue with Facebook', then the next screen tells me to:
'Continue in Your Browser.  To confirm your Facebook login, please switch to your default web browser now.  The confirmation process may take a few seconds to complete'.
I have opened every web browser on my computer, logged into my facebook account on each browser, turned firewalls off, and nothing happens / no confirmation occurs.  And the 'Help Centre' button at the bottom of the screen doesn't link to anything either.

Any idea what I should try next?

For anyone still having this issue;

Press Win+R, then type/paste the following: https://www.google.com

Then press Enter, this will/should pop-up asking you to set a default browser. Select which one you want [Chrome, Edge, Opera, ETC].

Once done, restart the oculus app and it should work a treat.

Still don't know why this hasn't been fixed tbh, I was pulling my hair out going from forum to forum looking for a Solution also...

Solution: Adding Oculus hosts
These lines go at the end of C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts:
157.240.11.49 graph.oculus.com
157.240.11.49 www2.oculus.com
157.240.8.49 scontent.oculuscdn.com
157.240.8.49 securecdn.oculus.com

how do you do that tho

December 9, 2021

search for notepad in the windows search bar and right click. Run as Administrator.

then go to file>open> look for the folder: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\

and open the hosts file (if you can't see it, change the format to all files on the bottom right corner of that window)

add Toku2288 's addresses to the end of that list and save.

I found out what to do for this problem and it is easy. You need to reinstall the oculus app and open the oculus setup. When you open the oculus setup don't click open oculus, click repair. it will give a little message or something and it will give you option to cancel or repair and click repair. The repair will reinstall the whole oculus app and it might take a while and once it is installed you should be able to have you oculus app back. Your welcome 🙂

Hey I finally got it to work this is what I did:

1> I went to my oculus installation folder > c:\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics

2> I ran the "OculusVRCValidator.exe"

3> Then it brought up a windows dialogue to select my default browser, then i chose one (chrome) and then it finally let me continue to use my Facebook account to log in

Hope this helps... cheers

I’m going to try some of the host file solutions but I have to kick the cat off my lap. But I wanted to add, I have this problem on my desktop, but then tried on my MacBook running Windows in bootcamp and the browser opened and I was logged into Oculus app. Only problem was the MacBook graphic card was not surprisingly too deficient. Question is, what setting is different on desktop vs Windows (on Mac) that allowed login to proceed to success?

This question has been bothering me for a long time.
Finally I solved it.
Step 1: Turn off the firewall
Step 2: Open the hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc)and add
157.240.11.49 graph.oculus.com
157.240.11.49 www2.oculus.com
157.240.8.49 scontent.oculuscdn.com
157.240.8.49 securecdn.oculus.com
If you can't save, you need to open the editing software with administrator rights
Step 3: Win key + R and type ipconfig /flushdns
Then I finished the login
