'Continue in Your Browser' - App login

I am trying to log in to the Oculus App on my PC, I have plugged in my headset, I clicked  'Continue with Facebook', then the next screen tells me to:
'Continue in Your Browser.  To confirm your Facebook login, please switch to your default web browser now.  The confirmation process may take a few seconds to complete'.
I have opened every web browser on my computer, logged into my facebook account on each browser, turned firewalls off, and nothing happens / no confirmation occurs.  And the 'Help Centre' button at the bottom of the screen doesn't link to anything either.

Any idea what I should try next?

For anyone still having this issue;

Press Win+R, then type/paste the following: https://www.google.com

Then press Enter, this will/should pop-up asking you to set a default browser. Select which one you want [Chrome, Edge, Opera, ETC].

Once done, restart the oculus app and it should work a treat.

Still don't know why this hasn't been fixed tbh, I was pulling my hair out going from forum to forum looking for a Solution also...

After migrating to Meta account the Oculus PC app told me to "Continue in [my] browser" but no browser popped up. Turns out I had to change the system's default web browser (I'm using Vivaldi, which is Chrome based) back to Microsoft Edge. Then the browser popped up and I was able to login for once.

I know there has already been a working solution but I would like to add that in my case. The Oculus PC app would not redirect me to log in on a browser no matter what I set as my default, whether my antivirus protection was off, or if my pop up blocker was off. So I factory reset my PC and it solved the issue.

If it works don't fix it - so I waited until Dec 31 to change my Oculus account into a Meta account. It did work, but I also got the "continue in your browser" message - and then nothing happened. This was very worrying, as my dear and beloved CV1 was then inaccessible and dead.

Not sure what I did, but after a few minutes, I think I did restart the rig, the Oculus Desktop App worked flawlessly again - and logged me in automatically. Maybe the server needed a few minutes to register my settings.

Btw, over there years I've gotten more than a few friend requests, upgrading to a Meta account I was thinking that finally I could now add more friends. But no, everything looks exactly like my Oculus account - trying to add friends I got a message about using my Facebook account - as previously. For now, changing to a Meta account did not seem to add any visible changes for my setup. Did register for Horizon too - but Horizon is not available for download in my Rift Store.

All my apps and games are still correctly registered - Stormland still works, so all apps and games still work flawlessly.

Same issue on my Win 11 notebook.

Solved by these steps :

close Oculus app

close All browsers

click on Windows bar and search for : Default Apps

on the bottom of window opened search for "reset all default apps"

click on "reset" button and wait for the reset confirmation.

open Edge browser

open Oculus app

open login with Facebook/ other links

now the links will be opened on the browser.

Still this is a severe error - and should have been fixed months ago. Normal users should not have to go through such steps - and most will probably not have a clue what to do.
