There is no specific gender assigned to Oculus avatars. There are some body types that look more feminine or masculine, and there are some facial features and details that can be considered traditional gender indicators, like eyes with heavier lashes, redder lips, and facial hair.

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3. Try my game: Cyclops Island Demo

Just Add a delete option of the avatar and let the user Chose the avatar from scratch , problem solve"

This is beyond ridiculous. All of these people are complaining about something that could EASILY be fixed by the 'meta' programmers IF they actually gave a crap about us users. You oculus "moderators" are about as useful as the facebook "fact checkers" , in that you aren't useful at all. And the generic happy cut and paste comments from "OculusSupport" are cringe inducing and equally useless. Don't give us smiley faces and nonsense. Just fix the **bleep** problem that I and HUNDREDS OF OTHER MEN are dealing with, which is, the fact that our avatars all look like feminine daisies. Just because Zuckerberg looks like an alien female does not mean the rest of us want to. Stop referring us to an 'ideas' section too - because how the hell is having avatars look male an "idea?!" And don't give us this nonsense about having 'male selections'. Putting a beard on an avatar just looks like a woman who glued a beard to her face. We paid good money for this stupid thing, so the LEAST you could do is give us the option to make the floating head look like the gender we actually are. It's the constant woke BS like this that make your companies stock go down more and more with each passing day. 📉

I agree, I'm 71 years old and do not like my avitar,  to much female appearance. That is not what i think of as myself.

I have exactly 10 body shapes available to choose from.  Male-ish shaped with relatively flat chests.  Just saw my 90 year old father's - his has a female chest.  I tried everything I could on my account to replicate what he has but cannot.  There is something different between accounts.

The only difference I know of is that his is tied to my mom's facebook account (female) and mine is tied to my account (male).

Something is definitely different in avatars available to the two of us.  Perhaps Oculus could confirm if there is a gender difference based on the facebook accounts?

They say there is no gender for the oculas avatar so why does the body type looks more female then male.?

Still reading this thread. But here are my observations.

    1. The Avatar creation system has never asked me my gender. Nor has there ever been a toggle for setting body type by gender.

    2. The body types you can pick do not have a single "male" or "female" version. They are various degrees of shoulder, chest, and waist girth. Or in other words, various degrees of "fitness" or "overweight". While the "overweight" ones have what could be considered breasts, there is no slider to adjust the size. Nor are they particularly "female" appearing since I've seen men with the same body type in real life.

    3. Outfits are not being segregated by male or female clothing. There's dresses next to "masculine" pants and shirt combos.

    4. Accessories such as facial hair are not being restricted by body type or outfit choice.

I'm frankly confused by where people are getting the idea their avatar is stuck in a specific gender.

I just got a notification stating that user Tonberry_Qing accepted some post as a solution.

Please Tonberry_Qing could you clarify what you meant by closing this OBVIOUSLY STILL PRESENT ISSUE?

There are more than 20 people here saying that they're having issues and feeling unconfortable using the "gender neutral" avatars because they look like females.

We've posted an "idea" in the ideas forum to get traction for this ISSUE, how can you read that as "oh yeah this looks like a solved question"?

Go to https://forums.oculusvr.com/t5/Ideas/Gendered-avatars/idi-p/932993 to get correctly gendered avatars!

The original question to the thread has been answered.  I have been keeping track of this thread for awhile and there has been multiple attempts by commenters to derail this thread into arguments.

The Solution marked is the correct answer for now. If developers include additional avatar resources the solution may be changed. The thread is not closed, you have commented and may continue to comment.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

ABSOLUTLY NO. This is not a question. This is a problem and NO by everyone in this forum (and many more customers not in this forum if you search the internet on this topic) who are looking for a resolution IT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. No one is arguing, they are upset and frustrated at not being listtened to and at attempts by moderators and support staff to ignore this. Just like you are trying to do by trying to close the thread and keep everyone quiet. This thread needs to remain open until the problem has been resolved.

They are a person with no history on this forum. This should not be closed in anyway as there is no solution to this problem!

There are 10 body types, ranging from skinny to overweight. All are gender neutral, with only 2 or 3 of the overweight options even vaguely looking feminine.

Regardless of body type chosen you get the same 10 choices for head shape.

Regardless of body type and head chosen you get the exact same options for facial features These range from things traditionally considered feminine to things traditionally considered masculine.

Regardless of body type, head, and facial features you chose... you always get every outfit. The more masculine ones are on the left (default starting area), with more feminine ones requiring you to scroll to the right. This includes stereotypical hot pink 80's womens workout cloths, dresses, skirt and blouse combos, kimono, and other feminine cloths in addition to flannel shirts and jeans.

Or in other words, there are no options to chose a gender because gender is determined by facial features and cloths chosen rather then body type.

Just to be absolutely sure, I just signed in and loaded up Oculus Home for PCVR. I then went to edit my avatar there, rather then via Horizons or the Quest Home avatar editor. Surprise Surprise, it's the exact same avatar creator. And there's still no gender establishing questions or toggles.
