Question

Have to "repair" the Link software every time...

The Quest Link app for Windows has been horribly broken for a few weeks now. There's a 50% chance I'll need to use the setup program and hit "repair" after every use, as it frequently freezes upon startup.

If I get lucky and it does work, I will have to fully reboot the Quest 3 afterwards, as otherwise, after closing the Link software, my hands will never reappear and I have no way to use navigate the Quest menus (I don't use controllers with the headset, just hands - and all hand tracking dies after using Quest Link for Windows until after a hard reboot of the Quest 3).

This never used to happen prior to a recent update, so I really hope things get back to normal soon.

This has now been fixed with the latest update. Just update your oc meta link software

I second that question cuz i have no improvement over here. Now instead of being stuck at the 3-dot loading screen, I get past that to a black screen with a white 3D Meta symbol. I will attempt Meta's suggestion of uninstalling the app and deleting certain folders in Safe Mode. Perhaps a clean install of the new version is what I need.

So I have the fix hit your Windows key type in services and go to Services System then scroll down till you get to Oculus runtime service and right click it go to properties and then startup type. click on that and click automatic delay start. that seems to have worked for me

Mine still spins and won’t start without ending tasks…. I tried the services with delayed start, still does not work for me…. any other clues…. Getting frustrated with this headset. Can I get a refund?

Same here. I tried all the suggestions & nothing works permanently. It's not worth it for me to spend more time trying to fix it. Signing out & back in to my windows user account is a fast, easy fix so it's not a big deal. It is annoying though & makes me wonder what they will break next.

Same here, It. just spins forever still…. Only way to get it to work is end tasks for oculus running events.. this really is broken still….

Then click apply and restart .that seems to have worked for me. If that dose not work make sure you did "select apply " and thn reboot pc. Then confirm it has been implemented by going back though steps above. If not make sure you select "apply "

I have to repair the install every time I use the app. At first I thought I was clearing out a registry setting or some other file with ccleaner, but I uninstalled that program to test my theory. Nope, I have to repair the install every time I want to use the program. When I see meta loading icon just spinning on the screen then I know I have to repair the install again. Something is clearing out of system files to be doing this. I rarely use my headset anymore because I know I have to jump through hoops just to use it.

Vertual desktop changed my life! Dude makes the color darker like it's backlit! Super black ! And it has upscale if you are on a potato 🥔 it looks as good as a pimax crystal now. And it's way better wirless with Av1 encoding if you have a 40 or above gpu
