Hey everyone! I went ahead and flagged this with our internal team, so they will be continuing to work on/look into this topic.

With that being said, the best option I can really recommend at the moment would be to submit bug reports wherever you run into this so that our engineers can get more back-end information.

Bug report natively.

Bug report on PCVR.

Thank you everyone!

it cant be a overclocking whatsoever problem. because as soon as i start a screen recording via the meta button (right controller) all artifacts dissappear.. for many people this is a workaround. BUT IT SUCKS EVEN MORE BATTERY

so not really a proper solution

That doesn't mean "it can't be an overclocking issue whatsoever." The fact that is stops when it screen records is likely because it dials things back in order to accommodate screen recording. Otherwise, if it is running at the max it wouldn't be able to screen record without screwing up the game performance. That's common sense. It's probably either a dynamic resolution thing or dynamic clock. I have no battery consumption issues that I have noticed. I use bobovr batteries and they work the same as before but I haven't tested to see how long the headset lasts without them vs how long it did before, which was exactly 2 hours.

The cause of this issue being the gpu being pushed harder is confirmed by the virtual desktop devs who have said this is a meta issue. The patch notes say that they pushed the quest pro harder but the virtual desktop devs say that they also pushed the quest 3 harder.

You guys need to stop arguing and just respond to the meta reps post. Nothing is gonna happen if you don't. Or just wait for meta to finally fix it.

Also getting this for PCVR games at 90hz since v60 with the praydog Resident Evil mods and Arizona Sunshine 2 (PCVR version) lowing refresh rate to 72hz helps.

its not our computers Meta!! Its your crappy software, recording a video while playing fixed it as well which is very odd.

Was fine on v59 for me at least not noticed it in any native Quest app but tbh don’t play many as I play PCVR games mainly, please fix!!

Since the update v60 there have sometimes been horizontal and vertical pixel lines / artifacts (in both lenses). Those lines and their colours do not match the picture. You can experience that easily in Walkabout Minigolf. Once you start to record (so that you can see what I´m talking about), the lines disapear. These pixel lines only appear in PCVR, standalone runs flawlessly (with QGO ...).

Does anyone else have the same problem? Is there a fix?

This problem didn´t happen before v60 (at least for me).

Edit: I found a thread on reddit by someone who experienced the same problem. I´ll link it so you can see a video with the problem.

Edit 2: I found another thread on the Meta forum where other people have reported the same issue since v60. FunkyTanuki from Meta Quest Support recommended starting another thread to make this problem more visible, so here it is

Getting the exact same thing in all games using PCVR. Are you using Virtual Desktop?

Really liking the Quest 3 generally but this is a big issue that my Q1 does not have. Really hope it gets fixed soon. Between the binocular overlap and this the immersion is pretty low 😞

Yes - I am using VD. Does the issue go away for you as well once you start recording?

I tried different codecs, different MBps - those have no impact on this issue.

Ok notched a view things with VD turning off Snapdragon helps to get rid of a little.

Did this video it happened on screen but the video dosnt show it as far as I can tell.

Native Prime Video does it as well!!!!!!!!!!

Come on Meta you’ve dropped the ball here.

Turning off Snapdragon in VD makes No difference for me - also lowering the MBps from 500 to 300 makes no difference for me.

I also have this problem, version 60.0.0.193.366.

I already had the problem with my Quest 3 with version 59, but not as pronounced. With 59, the artifacts started up reproducibly after taking a screenshot. After restarting the headset, the image errors disappeared again. See my post here

The problem always occurs with version 60. I mainly play PCVR, but the artifacts are also present in standalone mode. As has already been written here, they always occur in the Prime Video app, for example. Presumably they are also easily visible there due to the largely dark background.

I have these problem with the artifacts on my Quest 2 since at least May and the problem has been addressed to Meta by many people here in the forum, and tickets have also been opened. The bug has not yet been fixed. To be honest, I therefore have little hope that a solution will be provided in the near future.

I have the same problem and it happens to me with this version of v60. It also happens to me in PCVR and meta games. I'm hoping for a solution because it's a bit annoying and spoils the VR experience.

After testing it seems that disabling Snapdragon Sharpening tool in Virtual Desktop negates/fixes the issue. There's some problem with that technology it seems.

Wish that fixed it for me. Doesn't matter what I change at all in VD/Steamlink/airlink. Its always there

Facing the same problem on my Quest 3 (512gb) only started to happen after the last update.

Skybox is the worst, flashing and artifects occuring (just as with the previous posted video by another poster). Turning off wifi/tracking doesn't help. The same movie files player perfectly before. I've also noticed that the power is draning very quickly from the Q3 even plugged in, it's draining down to 88% and lower. The headset is getting hot on top to.

Please fix this. I'm under guarantee so if not resolved will return the Quest for the Apple vision....!

I know there are already a few threads on this, just posting another to bring more awareness to the issue. I also saw that there is some confusion about the issue, with some people saying the artifacting only happens in PCVR, which is not true. Some people might also not realize that PCVR through Virtual Desktop is still technically running a "standalone" or native quest app (VD). I am certain the artifacting is not just in PCVR as the first time I noticed it was in the Prime Video App.  I also notice it in other standalone apps like The Light Brigade, Walkabout Mini Golf, and I've even seen artifacts pop up in the home environment.

Again, these artifacts were only noticeable for me after the V60 update. I have 2 Quest 3's in my home right now and both of them have this graphical artifacting. I also have a Quest 2 on V60 and it has no artifacting. This is a very distracting bug which makes watching videos in a dark environment or playing any game that is dark very unenjoyable, as that's where the artifacts are most apparent.

I've attached a video to show what the artifacts in the Prime Video app look like. I also tried factory resetting the Quest 3, and it did not fix the problem at all.

**bleep** you! LOL
Never noticed this but after seeing your video I do 😞

Anyway....
I think it is all related to other issues like the texture quality being lowered in the peripheral vision areas.
The Quest 3 struggles with the power it has and getting rid of the heat it produces.
And battery life isn't great either.
These measures are supposed to help but far too many users notice these shortcuts and resulting shortcomings.

Whatever things the V60 update was meant o fix it did so by adding more issues to our lists.
As these things happen often and since we had the GO I wondered....
Meta provides people with beta firmwares - they call it early access.
You have to sign up for it and are supposed to provide proper feedback.
Why would anyone bother to do this without having any real world benefits from it ????
A real beta tester for hardware cost money, a user won't.
It seems that there is, at most, a handful of people at Meta actually using their headsets, otherwise their firmwares would not reach the public in such bad states....

Everyone keeps saying this started after the v60 update but its actually been going on for over a year now and is affecting the Q2,Q3 and the Quest pro. It got so bad that I stopped using my quest 2 months before they even released the Quest 3. The v60 update is worse though because when I got my Q3 I made sure it didnt update and hardly ever seen any pixles but last week I forgot to turn the update before powering off slider off and I can already see alot more pixles that before. Havent played much due to the holidays but now that they are over Ill see just how bad it got. And as far as it being the GPU overheating. I have a 4090 and I do monitor my temps and it hardly ever goes over 60c which is well within its specs. Also as I have mentioned in other posts this always happens to me when I PCVR and it seems to always be the left lense thats messes up. The other day I was playing halflife Alyx and the whole left lense turnd pink on me. I exited the game and it was still pink but as soon I exited SteamVR and went back to Virtual Desktop it went away. I have ranted and raved over this issue for a year now in multiple posts. I am over it. If my Q3 gets as bad as my Q2 was Ill put it in my closet and forget I even own it.

Thanks for your input. I have heard a bit about the artifacting happening well before V60 now. I used a Quest 2 for the past 2 years and never experienced it but am now experiencing it on my Quest 3 and it really sucks. As for what is causing it, of course  I have no idea, but I experience the artifacting just in the Quest standalone software, so it has nothing to do with the desktop GPU. Also, heat isnt the only thing that causes GPU issues like artifacting, it could just be an unstable overclock. I'm no overclocking expert, but Meta overclocks these APUs with software updates often, so it could be that they just didn't test the overclock on enough Quests before pushing the update. For those who don't experience artifacting, it could be that their silicon is slightly better and is therefore totally stable with the overclock, but for those whose Quest cannot handle the OC, they get artifacting. This is just a guess of course, but the point is, artifacting doesn't necessarily mean you are overheating, it could also just be an unstable overclock.
