Meta Quest 3 stuck on "applying software update"

I just bought new Meta quest 3, and on the first time while going through normal activation process after I connected it to a WiFi it started to apply software update.

It does that for a short while , saying " applying software update" and then restarting.

After it boots up, it just goes back to the exact same phase, "applying software update" and restarting, again and again in an infinite loop.

I've tried connecting it to a charger, factory resetting it, and connecting to different wifi network, living it alone for hours in that loop.

Nothing seems to be helping...

What can I do to go past that update process? Or updating in some other way? Because as of now my device is absolutely unusable.

Hi everyone! πŸ™‚ I hope you're all doing well. Upon exploring further, It seems like there's a V66 iteration of this issue that has surfaced in another thread. Since our engineering team is keeping a close eye on the most recently created thread, I'm going to be locking this one. This way, all the reports will be in one place for our Internal team. Once I have an update, I'll be sure to share it in this thread here. You may also find some helpful insight from other users who are facing the same issue.

Don't worry be happy.

Hello! I appreciate everyone's feedback in this thread. Just wanted to jump in here and see how connecting to another network connection worked out. Also, I'm still actively looking into this issue with our internal team. However, they'll still need the requested details to take a more in-depth look. I'll gladly provide the necessary information. If everyone could please provide the following:

  1. What's the full version number of your headset? (65.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • Quick Settings > System > Software Update
  2. What's the full version number of your PC app? (65.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • General > Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  3. Are you enrolled in Quest PTC?
  4. Any potential workarounds?

I'll do my best to keep you all updated as soon as I find out anymore details!

Don't worry be happy.

The problem arose shortly after the v65 update, it wouldn't let me relay to the phone app
even though the MQ3 and the phone were on the same network, then I realized that the
phone app didn't connect to the MQ3, it didn't have problems downloading games or using
apps that require an internet connection, these did work. On June 11, the v66 update was
available for download, but it did not download.
I tried to change networks on the MQ3, but I can't connect to any available Wi-Fi networks. Now I factory reset the meta quest 3, but when downloading the update it does not progress.

I and a number of other users on Reddit are still stuck in the update boot loop while setting up new headsets.

The problem was described in part here: Link

And was stated to be resolved here: Link

It seems it’s not resolved though… working with a brand new headset. Stuck on the same applying update and then rebooting loop. Again, multiple users have reported this on Reddit after this was said to be fixed. Is another fix coming out? Have tried factory resetting, different WiFi, etc etc.

Hi Strugg you could always update to V67 to see if the issue is fixed using meta's new update tool.

http://www.meta.com/help/quest/software_update  ---- but that's borked as well.
