My Oculus Quest 2 keeps turning off randomly?!

Now, I will have to say a few things before any replies on solutions are made:

- The battery of the headset is 100%.
- The camera is clean and tracking is working.

- The headset itself on the outside has no damage.

- This issue has just started.

Well, to put it simply, it keeps turning off. I have to manually turn it back on and it isn’t a black screen of death situation. It could be that the power button has some dust in it but it is unlikely.

It would be great if someone has this same issue as I have searched a bit and have not seen this issue in the slightest.

Thanks for reading,

WoofWolf21.

Hey everyone! I'm jumping in here to report that I'll be locking this thread. The reason being that the original post could have a different root cause than any recent issues coming up.

If you've been running into this, I'd highly suggest checking out these steps if not already. Along with that, I do recommend creating a new thread in the Get Help boards or reaching out to MetaStoreHelp through PMs or where they'll be able to look into some other options they might have available.

Hello. It happens stand-alone as my PC is no VR support. Thanks for replying and I hope I can get this issue fixed.

I'd love to know any answer to this, besides "let's take it private". That's not a great answer to a community question, is it?

We understand your concerns with this, but we ask our customers to go into a private message due to needing personal account details. However, there's not much troubleshooting to do for these types of issues as long as your device has no damage and is fully charged.

We don't have the required tools here on the forum to assist further with this issue. If you're having issues with your headset rebooting itself, we recommend submitting a support ticket with one of our specialists. They'll be happy to assist you further!

he literally mentioned "The crazy part is my quest 2 just arrived the other day so their is no way theirs any damage or dust" how could you get issues on ur headset after a day? literally ur headset gets issues in atleast 3 months or so. its a issue with your crappy boundary system that pushes your fricking boundary out the way to the fricking heavens. fix your boundaries like its not a headset issue like u said its a software issue

Hey there, Sgt.Ketchup130. That definitely sounds like quite an issue. We wouldn't want you to have to deal with this issue that's interrupting your VR time any longer. We'd be more than happy to help out! Here's some troubleshooting steps that you can try out, and if they don't help out, then we'd recommend a factory reset to see if that helps. The steps for a factory reset are listed below:
From the Headset:

  • Power off the headset
  • Press and hold volume down & Power
  • This will boot into the USB Update Mode menu
  • Press volume button to move selection, press power button to make the selection
  • Navigate to Factory Reset and press the Power button. The device should now begin the Factory Reset process.

Let us know if this helps out or not. We'll be looking forward to hearing back from you!

Yeah, I've been having the same issue and I only just got back into using my oculus, and it's really annoying to have to turn my oculus back on every 20 seconds.

I second this. I haven't had the issue in a while, so it might have just been an update issue for me. Either way, seems like a check for updates, and/or rebooting is a great first step. Then, as stated, if this is unsuccessful, PM MetaStoreHelp !

Just purchased a Meta quest 2 and it stays on roughly 1 minute then shuts off.  Fully charged and during the set up.  I've changed the sleep time in the app and it hasn't helped.  What can I do to fix this?

I went to power setting and disabled all power saving feature and the one that detects motion to turn headset on. Put auto off to 4 hrs. It worked for me. Made sure I had a better wifi connection and Viola.  Problems solved.

I got my quest two for Christmas. It worked beautifully until last week, now it just randomly turns itself off. The device is fully updated, full battery, I’ve tried turning it off, and on again, etc. I thought initially was just with one app which is the primary app I use, but can now confirm it is happening to matter what app is being used. We only have a few apps on the device. Really frustrating for a one month old device to already have issues.

we were having an issue where it would work for me and not my son.  Turned out his hair was blocking the sensors in the headset, so it don’t think he had it on.  When we moved his hair out of the way it worked.

Hi,

I have identical issue.    was in the middle of an action game, advancing like one hour into it and poof, i got a screen with the power button icon and text "Powering off"   as if i pushed a power button.   but there is no such thing, there is a standby btn but my hands were no where near it.    any ideas Metaquest?

Hey there, Ptown-regis! We couldn't help but notice that you are experiencing some power related issues with your headset. We definitely understand how immersion breaking that must be and we'd love to help get this issue resolved as quickly as possible! Just to gain a little further clarity on our end, is this occurring in multiple games or just that one particular action game? Has this happened to you on numerous occasions? Once you get back to us with that information, we'd be more than happy to assist you further!

it happened once, in After the fall.  I mentioned this because i saw another person reported the same.  Such an odd occurrence - thinking it might be  thermal thing.   scene was very high action, lots of moving images.

What i didn't mention is that at much higher frequency I get kicked out of the ATF game and relocated to the root location.  this one is happening on Arizona Sunshine and ATF, about once every 3-4 hours or so.  those are the only apps I use so don't have any other to compare with.

Appreciate if you could give remedial ideas.   as for networking, if on 100mb cable d/l and 10mb upload bandwidth.   i have assigned the quest 2 wifi priority to the highest within my linksys router.  perhaps there could be router setting that is more favorable to quest?

thx for support

Thank you for getting back to us with that information, Ptown-regis! Since it just occurred once, there is a possibility that the battery died during gameplay or that it was a one-time bug/glitch. Of course, if you continue to experience issues, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us as we are always happy to help! As for the network connectivity issues that you are experiencing, we would like to get you over to our dedicated support team so that we can do some more extensive troubleshooting with you.
