Quest 2 - Software Update Required

I have had this issue trying to pair both of my Quest 2's for the last 4 days. When you click 'try again' it just loops back to this screen.

I have tried reinstalling the app (including updating the app), using an IOS phone and using an Android phone, I have even factory reset one of the devices. Still get the below message when I try to pair this device to any phone.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Cheers

All I did was turn wifi hotspot on my phone ,and used that wifi instead of the home wifi  and did not connect the usb/c cable  and set it  as normal then it used my phone wifi to  download the update .And I just got the headset yesterday and  it works great now have been  using gravity sketch

More than a month after this original post, and I'm having the same issue. I've tried all the suggestions I found here and in other posts. Even created a developer account and tried to get this done through ODH. No luck. Really embarrassing...

I tried the same way but failed.

Even if I access the developer version, it says to update the Q2 device

Is there a fix for this yet ? Totally a scam by ocolus, selling the product that does not even work.

manually updating to Oculus_Quest_2_q2_ptc_37314400736000000 has fixed my issue.

Good to hear dude 🤙Nothing else worked for me either besides the sideload manual update after factory reset. I don't care if it voids my warranty, the Quest Team should've had this issue fixed several months ago. Bricks no more!!

Hey y'all, Sideloading your Quest 2 is no longer necessary! There's been an update to the Meta Quest phone app that should resolve this issue. Make sure the Meta Quest app is updated to version 181.1, then factory reset your headset and try to set it up again. If you encounter any more issues after this, make sure to reach out to Support. If it works for you, give this a Kudos and let other people know! Thanks!

Still not working

Hi, doing the "right thing" and posting my experience/solution from this week.

I'd encountered the same issue trying to migrate my (already oculus to fb) account to a meta account. i.e. I was getting warning both in the app and on the web that my device needed patching even though the device said no more updates.

So at first I checked in the headset: oculus button, settings, system and them system updates and it said downloading. So I left it plugged in an on standby and it finished downloading so did the restart to install it.

The trouble is, after this, there were no more updates, and the app and web still warned me about needing to update my headset before I did the account migration.

Solution:

Seemed the issue I was having was some sort of DB sync issue between my device and the app or website. Looks like all I had to do was wait 24 hours after the device was updated and then both the app and website stopped complaining my device was out of date. I was then able to do the migration OK.

After account migration, my headset was showing a code and asking me to go to meta.com/device to type it in. This didn't work, reporting an invalid code. I then went to the app and re-signed in and went to devices and checked the app could see the headset OK. When next I put the head set on, the code was gone...

So, hopefully all sorted now. Hope that helps someone

Even if I connect to the patch version (version 181.1), it still doesn't work.

It seems like an update with only Quest Pro added.

I am still having issues pairing my Quest 2 with my app and I am still stuck on the setup screen on the headset. My app is on the newest version.

I had the same problem after I received a new device exchanged under warranty. My controllers were not working and I decided to do a factory reset, after which I got stuck in this screen. No solution suggested here, worked for me. Waiting for divine solution.

Same for me. Oculus iOS app won't connect to the Quest 2 due to lack of software update and the Quest 2 is stuck on the pairing screen, so I can't do an update.

My iOS Oculus app is on latest version 181.1. And no idea what version my Quest 2 is, because I can't pass the pairing screen (keeps looping the animation on how to hold the controllers and a pairing number)

I have found a way around the update required.

First, you must factory reset your Quest 2 on the headset. After the reset, your app should still be paired to your Quest 2 (mine was, it still showed the battery percentages for the headset and the controllers). If not, try to pair a new Quest 2. The headset should now show the pairing screen with the looping controllers. From here just make sure your controllers are on and click to wake them up. I got stuck at this point because I kept trying to pair the headset to my phone, but actually, all I had to do was turn the controllers on. The headset should start to update on its own from there. Hope this helps!
