Quest 3 lost all tracking

Brand new quest 3 just arrived, configured an everything was doing pretty well. Was just logging into a game when all tracking just stopped working, a window saying "Tracking lost" showed up, but I couldn't click anything since the controllers stopped working too, hand tracking also wasnt working. I tried cleaning up the cameras with a very soft towel, tried rebooting, resetting to factory settings, everything I could. The screen is either completely black, black with a dot or on the starting screen asking to turn on the controllers, but the screen just moves randomly and isn't following the headset movements at all. There is a white dot blinking on the left controller and they keep vibrating every few seconds.

Update
I've returned it, but before doing so I found out that the issue seems to be that little sensor on the inside of the headset, the one that sits right on the forehead. Everytime something is close enough, all tracking was just gone. When there was nothing on the sensor, I could see the tracking working when in the turn off screen at least, and could click with the controllers, but I was still completely unable to actually do anything other than turn on, turn off and factory reset the device. I'll get another one and hopefully it will be problem free, but if not I'll just wait a few months to try again. I do not believe it was sweat that broke it since it was worn for very little time, and it happened when i slightly adjusted the headset on my face. No force used or any mishandling of the product, it just stopped working. Makes me think there may have been some faulty connections or something of the sort going on in the inside of the headset.

What I did to find out that little sensor was the issue is I was removing the headset and putting it back on a few times. Eventually I just held the power button since the only other screen I could see was the turn off screen. I then noticed the tracking seems to go back so at first I thought it just wasnt built very well, but then I noticed putting my finger on the sensor caused the tracking to die. Apparently there is a way to disable that sensor trough developer tools from the oculus software on pc, but you also have to be able to access the headset's configurations. Not sure it would have helped, but I couldn't try it since I couldnt control anything.

(Update)

I have now completely lost all tracking, I am stuck on the “(number) battery remaining”
screen, it said I lost controller and hand tracking.

Now I have a 399 piece of scrap on my table, waiting to be fixed or sold.

I just had the same issue arise. I have now been on with support 3 times. Sent an email with information that was requested by the support individual, which they state they didn’t receive. I also sent a screen shot of the email which they did receive. I have heard absolutely nothing in response. I may just attempt to go through the location I purchased the Quest 3.  The lack of response is disappointing to say the least. I have also performed reboots, factory reset with the same results.

My Quest 3 just started having this problem today, 5 months after having it replaced for a firmware upgrade boot loop. It is now out of warranty and I'm told the only solution is an "out of warranty" replacement for $459 and a 3 month warranty. LOL This company is really a joke.

If you own a Quest 3 it is not a matter of IF but WHEN you will need to get it replaced, and you better hope you aren't a day over your warranty period or you are out of luck.

My Quest 3 just had this problem today after not using it for about a couple weeks, Its rather unfortunate I can no longer refund it at the retail store where I purchased it.

Well now I guess I have to wait who knows how long just to get a response from Meta to replace it, provided my warranty doesn't expire before then.

Having the same issue. It started with the left controller losing tracking, now both controllers are dead. Lesson learned. No more Meta products for this household.

Mine was under warranty. I was able to get it replaced. It was a refurbished unit, but still a unit that didn’t work. We also have a Quest 1 and that thing still works.

Another one for the list in 2025. will try straight up replacing the depth sensor or relevant hardware and update on the results. >:[

It’s the same thing with my headset I had it for days and it started just doing the same thing here’s the thing I am young and my mom will kill me (not literally) because it was 400$ and it went down the drain I don’t wanna go back to that crappy old quest 2 that always has stick drift and if I break the news to her she will think it was me who broke it because I sometimes break everything I touch and I can’t just give it back because I used it so much my mom can’t afford a new one and if I can’t do anything about it I will sue meta

I submitted a warranty request to Meta and the unit was replaced with a refurbished unit. No issues since. I reached out to them through here. Quite easy to work with in my experience.

I've had this problem too and the only way I was able to fix it is by getting another one.

The quest 3 is a piece of garbage that will always die on you because that’s the way they were made so meta can suck more money out of your pockets.
