Quest 3 lost all tracking

Brand new quest 3 just arrived, configured an everything was doing pretty well. Was just logging into a game when all tracking just stopped working, a window saying "Tracking lost" showed up, but I couldn't click anything since the controllers stopped working too, hand tracking also wasnt working. I tried cleaning up the cameras with a very soft towel, tried rebooting, resetting to factory settings, everything I could. The screen is either completely black, black with a dot or on the starting screen asking to turn on the controllers, but the screen just moves randomly and isn't following the headset movements at all. There is a white dot blinking on the left controller and they keep vibrating every few seconds.

Update
I've returned it, but before doing so I found out that the issue seems to be that little sensor on the inside of the headset, the one that sits right on the forehead. Everytime something is close enough, all tracking was just gone. When there was nothing on the sensor, I could see the tracking working when in the turn off screen at least, and could click with the controllers, but I was still completely unable to actually do anything other than turn on, turn off and factory reset the device. I'll get another one and hopefully it will be problem free, but if not I'll just wait a few months to try again. I do not believe it was sweat that broke it since it was worn for very little time, and it happened when i slightly adjusted the headset on my face. No force used or any mishandling of the product, it just stopped working. Makes me think there may have been some faulty connections or something of the sort going on in the inside of the headset.

What I did to find out that little sensor was the issue is I was removing the headset and putting it back on a few times. Eventually I just held the power button since the only other screen I could see was the turn off screen. I then noticed the tracking seems to go back so at first I thought it just wasnt built very well, but then I noticed putting my finger on the sensor caused the tracking to die. Apparently there is a way to disable that sensor trough developer tools from the oculus software on pc, but you also have to be able to access the headset's configurations. Not sure it would have helped, but I couldn't try it since I couldnt control anything.

Are people having this problem with the 200 something gb mq3? I have the smaller storage space mq3 and was just wonderingif it was happening to both models.

Hello,

does anyone have a solution to this issue? We have the same problem with our headset for few week. Headset says “Tracking lost” when We turned it on and controllers just vibrate and LED diode blinking. We did a hard and factory reset, all other helps from this forum and nothing, its just a black screen.
The headset still turns on but will not display anything, just white flash once quickly and then only they play music.
Does anyone know, how it fix it?
Thanks.

Hello SPRAVCE ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Meta Quest Support. We understand your having tracking issues - That's never ideal!

We will share with you some troubleshooting steps that may help in resolving this issue:

  • Ensure the tracking cameras are clean
  • Ensure your environment is free of any obstructions between the tracking cameras and the controllers
  • Remove unsupported third-party accessories that may affect tracking or controller detection. For example, controller and headset covers, controller attachments, etc.
  • Remove the battery from the controller for 30 seconds
  • Try replacing the battery with a new one
  • Unpair and pair the controller to the headset

I have same problem with 50151600073800510 system, ver69.0.0.576.352.641228209. sometimes, during using vd with tracked keyboard, it just can't show passythrough somehow, I lock screen, wait for about 30s(unplug if you are charging, this might(60%) help), and then unlock headset, then it might work again(30%), or completely dead out(65%), where the controller work inside vd, but can't interact with meta ui, I think they called it "quick action memu" or "shellenv".(if you look down now, you might find the avatar stacked, with both hands laydown, also sometimes the hand shadow stacked somewhere just like lagging or lost internet connection) Then I try to factory reset quest3, here comes just what you told, left controller is missed. I reset it time for time, hoping fix it, but both controller missed one time, but I wait for about 20min(because I can't interact with wifi passwords input, the process just don't work), the headset then told me you need to hold "meta" and "B" together for 4s for right controller to pair, and then"menu" and "Y"(i think, i am in bed with only right one now). You can try to wait for some time after reset. And NOTICE HERE, after your both controller work again, go setting, close anything about hantracking and bodytrackings stuff. The problem will not happen again(but no hand and keyboard for now). I guss they are fixing this tracking bug now, somehow makes it unsteable. Not a solution here, but let you know you are not alone, guess we can just wait for OTA update fix. I try to get out of PTC, but they clossed v68 now, this don't work to roll back. I guess they are working on this now, or working for quest3s, that is why no new PTC releasse for a long time.

my headset is only ONE WEEK past the warranty when this issue started.... Meta pretty m,uch told me not their problem but here is 50$ off the next REFURBISHED headset you buy ...One week past ... thought mine was bricked but after 2 days of boot lapping i charged it with original wire and charger with all headset attachments and straps off of it and  seen the led was Green tried it and seen the passthrough working and then i shed a single tear of happiness. ...It's no longer in the boot lap but it loses tracking every time, I move my headset (itch my nose, wipe sweat, use vol buttons) and then immediately thrown into the gyro spin and app tracking lost warning until I do a hard reset. I play professional for VRML on Vail so playing like this is next to impossible on a comp level and not very immersive to say the least .... with all that said i had many questionable little bugs here and there i ignored and didn't send in but i talk to a rep who convinced me not to send in months before any of this happened which would of been warranty covered .. Luckly for me it didn't happen again until 1 week past so please don't let them do the same to you ..if it acts up at all or starts up funny dont let them talk you out of it or help you troubleshoot it .. instead send it back in and get yourself a new one but becareful doing that and thinking your warranty starts over because from reading other people's threads i seen the warranty is only covered the length of time on the first headset you bought it for .... sorry for ranting but I used to be a huge supporter of Meta but now I can see it's all a front and its really all dollars and cents with them ...you broke my heart, Meta you filthy W$%e

We are experiencing this same problem. We've owned it for about a week now, and suddenly it has lost tracking. Not sure how to proceed.
