Quest 3 stuck in Battery Saver Mode

So I toggled the battery saver mode 3 days ago and ofc it lowered resolution. I wanted to test the feature. So I toggled it on, saw the change, and then toggled it off. When I turned it off, the resolution stayed the same, the fovetated size stayed the same. Everything was the same as if I was still on battery saver mode (with full charge on the headset).

I ignored this issue until today as I cannot deal with it anymore. I restarted the device, resolution is still low, text is pixelated, FOV is terrible, everything warped. The headset thinks I'm in battery saver mode still. Tried toggling it on and off and there is literally no change when turning it on, and of course no change when going back to off.

Please help.

I'm on v60

**NOT A SOLUTION** MARKING FOR VISIBILITY**

Hey everyone! Engineers are currently looking into this and in the meantime, will need you to get connected with support using this link here. They will need to provide a few steps and possibly collect logs. As well as getting this escalated to our internal specialist through email. Our support will have the tools to get a better look into this for you! As well as submitting a bug report!

In addition, please get connected with our support through a PM by clicking their name MetaStoreHelp and making sure you're signed in.

We are all mad here.

I seem to be affected as well. This severly impacts/degrades the general usability of the Quest for non-VR scenarios. I am absolutely baffeled that it has been months without a fix or at least open and transparent communication!

And btw: I really love the Quest 3 headset and think it is a product that brings great value. I am just frustrated because this product breaking bug seems to be completely neglected...

It would be helpful if META were keeping us updated on what the progress is with the bug. What has their engineering figured out about it? What are their plans to try to fix it? It seems hard to believe with as many people impacted by this, that they haven't collected enough data to have a basic idea of what they think the issue might be, and how they think they might be able to resolve it?

The only sensible things that I can garner from this is that in their opinion the number of complaints vs the number of "assumed" working units doesn't justify their time in rectifying this issue. My problem with that assumption is no amount of defective units should be considered trivial. Even 1 broken unit is owned by a potential long term customer who you risk losing. That could have a domino effect. The other assumption is perhaps to fix the few units that are complaining with a software patch pushed out to all units MAY break some other functionality on the working ones thus they may be reluctant to risk that. A fair assumption however why can't those with the issue just be sent the patch to apply somehow? Again these are only thoughts and in no way refect what actually may be going on but other than these I'm having difficulty understanding the long delay in correcting this clear bug issue.

As far as I can tell, this thread provides literally no details about a root cause, and keeps asking for more data? How much more data do they need? How have they not figured something out by now? How is this thread even still open, and new people are still reporting it, even though there have been multiple quest updates since the opening of this bug thread? Someone from META needs to be taking more control over this situation, and providing more details on what the next steps are, or providing more info on what is taking so long to resolve it.

So, I recently got a Quest 3 and after reading through this thread I'm worried that I might have the same bug.
On the first two days I was amazed by the clarity of the Q3 (coming from a Index) but now I'm not sure if either the quality has degraded or the "wow factor" of having a new shiny toy just disappeard.

Is there a surefire way to find out if you have the bug or not? If I toggle the battery saver mode the screen gets a bit dimmer but I see no change in resolution. Toggling it off again does nothing, I also can see no change after rebooting.
I even did two factory resets already and again, no change. My home environment has some pretty major aliasing, but again, I'm not sure if that is normal or not.

The other question is: does this in affect PCVR as well (either via Virtual Desktop or Link)? The consensus here seems to be that it doesn't, however reading this thread over at the MSFS forums I'm not so sure: Link

My return window lasts for another week and I'd like to know if I should try my luck with another device.

Has anyone tried out the new update?

Yes. In fact since things were already screwed up, I felt I couldn't do much more harm so I also tried toggling the battery saver mode off and on during each of the updates HOPING maybe it would kick start itself back to normal but the resolution never upgraded. In fact it looked like there was no change at all during toggling which made me wonder if that feature got nerfed in the updates somehow.

Was this the update that came out this week?

No. Been disgusted with the entire situation so haven't tried one that may have come out this week. You wouldn't be asking bc you actually had success with that one would you? That would be awesome if so.

I wish 😂 it’s not available to download on my quest yet as it’s a gradual roll out, so I want to know if anyone had any luck.

I have seen a few comments with people with working headsets say the passthrough is really good with the new update

If it actually fixed anything, this thread wouldn't have a reason to remain open.

If it works well for functioning headsets and there is video to show this I will keep returning. mine until i get a working one

The web support team are dreadful. I was told to wait until they hear something from the engineering team. What kind of BS is this? Wait until its fixed at some point?

Surely by now someone, SOMEONE from META has some kind of idea what the issue is, and what needs to be done to resolve it? How can this be open this long and nobody still has any idea what is going on?

I know this is infuriating, they wont even give me a refund as they said its too late, this is ridiculous, they sold me a product they know was broken on the date it was sent! Surely this isnt even legal?

And they just give me copy and pasted responses that shut down all my questions.

Surely everyone affected by this has grounds for legal action?

I am copying aand pasting the email I sent them as it sums up the problem imo

Hi

need to know  if this is a problem or is the meta quest 3 just this bad, the passthrough image quality is literally like if you go onto youtube and watch a clip of people speaking like a documentary and then you change the image quality to the absolute lowest setting the qualitty of my passthrough is as bad as that probably worse.

This is the same in good daylight with the lights on and off

The lighting in my entire living room is 75 lux, I have 50 lux lighting and above in every other room and its the same

Thanks

For the record, this issue doesn't sound like it is related to passthrough. Not saying it can't impact passthrough as well, but it is just impacting the resolution the device is in. Honestly, I don't know why the OS doesn't expose an option for us to directly and explicitly choose the resolution we want to use, you know, like other modern OSes do? It is odd to tie it to a battery saver feature. Not saying that low resolutions won't save battery, they probably can, but let the consumer pick the resolution, and label low res as energy saving, and high res, as higher performance or something. We don't need an idiot toggle to make the choice for us. Especially when apparently. that toggle is broken, and drops resolution and then refuses to reset it back to high res when it is turned off.

Well said and I agree 100%  Also one would think that the "factory reset" SHOULD take tge unit back to the same "out of box" dunmo maybe software v 60 state that it was in prior to anything being done to it. My experience is that doesn't happen at least for me. I'd be fine going back to square one and redoing updates again IF it fixed this bs problem.
