Quest link not working with Quest 3

I just updated my Nvidia driver to the most recent version (537.58), and now Quest link just isn't working at all. Tried uplugging and replugging the link cable, nope. Tried restarting the headset, nope. Anyone else having this problem?

Hey everyone! The engineering and product team has reached back out to me and provided an update.

It looks like they won't be able to get the necessary information through here on the forums, but they did want to look into everyone's logs to get a closer look. I highly suggest testing out PTC and if that doesn't work, reaching out through a support ticket so they can gather the logs and provide some more in-depth assistance.

[NOT A SOLUTION] - Just marking this as the solution so that everyone can see the updates when they come in.

Hey everyone! I've been seeing this thread pop off, so I wanted to get with our engineering and product team for them to look further into this.

Could everyone experiencing the issue please answer the following:

  1. What's the full version number of your headset? (57.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • Quick Settings > System > Software Update
  2. What's the full version number of your PC app? (57.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • General > Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  3. Do you have PTC enabled for your PC app??
  4. How's Air Link?

Thanks! I'll be updating this comment as they come in.

3. I had it enabled and disabled both times not working

4. Air link works fine when im right next to my AP, but since my room is quite far away i would rather use the link cable

Same problem here. Link worked at first, then some times restariting the system aleatory, now never.

The same with airlink

Virtual desktop working fine.

Same oculus app number here

It does not matter my quest 3 number because my quest 2 has the same problem

Recently I gave in and bought the Quest 3 to play games with my bros, however since I've pulled it out of the box Quest Link has given me nothing but problems. Air Link frequently stutters and tears, and while using a highly rated usb 3 Link cable, my screen shows an error symbol, then the colors are mega saturated and whenever I try to move my cursor the screen blacks out. All my drivers and programs are all up to date, please help

Thank you very much therealcberns and Sandalwood777 .

I also have an ASUS Motherboard and (nearly) the same Issue as discussed here (My PC is listed but when in want to start Quest Link it worked like one time and then, if I try again, I only see a black screen and the three white dots an Quest link didn't start)

I updated these three Drivers for my ASUS ROG Z790 Hero:

Intel ME Consumer V2334.5.1.0 (SW 2335.5.26.0) For Windows 11 64-bit.
Intel Chipset driver V101196008418 for Windows 11 21H2 64-bit.(WHQL)
Intel DTT 9.0.11401.38310 (Ipf driver V1.0.11401.38408) For Windows 11 64-bit.

as well as BIOS to Version 1402.

And now it seems to work fine.

So, one of these 4 fixed it for me.

Same, I think it’s a bug that came in v57 because it’s happening to everyone else with a Quest 3.

Anyone having a good solution already?
I'm struggling the same issue like many out here. Opened a ticket but it says it'll take days to be answered. I'm afraid even then there will be some mandatory courses like I should update all drivers (done), FWs (done), etc.
so if anyone knows a good solution please share that with me here.

I've reinstalled everything  (including the PTD FW) - yes, even my OS as well -, switching between PTC enabled/disabled, LAN private/public but can not connect the HMD to my PC neither via Airlink not via cable. It gives me only a black screen with three gray dots in the middle.

Is the USB device recognized by your computer when you plug it in through link? Is your device recognized by airlink?

If it does and you hit connect and then you get the 3 dots only, have you tried making a "developer account" through meta? That worked for me. (should be youtube videos on how to do it. Was easy)

Additionally, sometimes fully turning off the quest and then back on with the USB cable already plugged in has worked.

"Is the USB device recognized by your computer when you plug it in through link? Is your device recognized by airlink?"

Sometimes lacking of speed, or not recongized but then it's getting okay -regardless of the connection method, tho.

Will try the switch off with cable connected thingy and also the dev account.

On the ohter hand support was answered my ticket/email and sent me also a lot to do so I'll also check those steps. Will report back here about those steps, too - maybe useful for others as well.

Ok Guys, i have an solution for everyone whose Quest 3 Airlink works fine and Link Cable doesn't anymore.

First turn off wlan.

Go to "Settings" -> "System" -> "Quest Link". Turn off Quest Link. It will turn on automatically, don't worry. Plug in the Link Cable. Quest Link shortcut in settings menu will show up your pc, if you turned off wlan first.

If you used Airlink, you are not be able to turn off "Airlink". You can't switch back to "Link Cable". In my oppinion it's not a bug. It could be a useful feature for the future.

Well, I had a dead pixel anyway, and now it looks like after two days of working, the PC cable link isn't going to work anymore. PTC almost looked like it was going to work, then black screen again, and can't find the PC, even though it think's it's connected. looks like it's time to send this puppy back. Doesn't look like the 3 was quite ready for primetime, or meta laid off some of the wrong people. Where do we go for RMA ?

I experience the same issues with the link not working after returning to my MQ3 that's connected to my PC.  I believe this could be a software issue with host application running on the PC.  Every time it will not connect for me, the following simple procedure works at getting the link active again.  With the Oculus app still running, simply unplug the cable from the MQ3 headset and then go into Devices and attempt the setup a link.  The indicators should, of course, show that connection failed or can't be made.  Close the setup and then just plug the headset back in, and it will magically be detected and ready to be enabled within the MQ3 again.  I believe this means the there is probably a bug in the connection idle/termination process wherein the host software never gets back to a clean state ready for a fresh, new connection.

Thank you, this is the first thing that has actually helped me. It is not a solution however it gives me a process that I can use to connect to the PC until someone finds a solution. I personally believe that it is a driver issue and that is why it is not an issue for everyone however I think Meta has known about this issue for long enough that they should have been able to narrow it down to the problem driver.

thanks

read trough everything here, nothing worked for me here as well, what i did not try yet is another cable, or hub. i use official meta cable usb c to usbc, support couldnt help me 😠

Hello, i have received my new quest 3 and link cable few days ago, but could not connect it to my pc via the cable.

My z590m plus mainboard has 3.2 usb port type c as well, and it only makes a charging sound but doesnt seem to find anything. not the quest, not the oculus program on windows.

Windows is a fresh install, newest drivers etc. I changed power management setting to disabled, on the usb bus in device manager i checked off that it saves power. I reinstalled, restarted both the pc and quest, updated, repaired the oculus program, reinstalled oculus drivers, activated dev mode and installed adb drivers. I even updated my bios firmware!

I asked meta support they could not help me so far. I dont know what to do.

Airlink worked, connected, but when inside is EXTREMELY buggy, flicking, cannot see my controllers rly, bad graphics, not allowing me to do anything and the world is destryoed etc. basically not functional.

Is it me? my pc? my quest? cable broken delivered? why.

Besides that, is it normal that standalone quest 3 is kindoff pixely and blurry? I thought it can change when in pcvr right?
