I finally got mine removed by going to https://secure.oculus.com and clicking devices on the left side of the page. from there, I hit delete device info. Removed the entire device listing from my account in one click and allowed me to enable app sharing on my new Quest 3.

Hey Pookiemonstr, totally understand your concern with not being able to remove devices to your account. They don't need to be on your account if you are no longer in possession of them and we want to help you resolve this. This is the proper way to do this. You go into your account on the Oculus website. Then there is a drop down menu where you can choose “My devices” and once on that page, you should see each of your devices listed.  You want to click the button underneath each device labeled “Delete device data”. If the issue still persists, please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here. Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us! Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message.

Sorry, MetaQuestSupport, but that does not work if a person no longer owns the device. I've tried those steps several times, with different browsers, and keep getting an error message:

Please note that this is NOT a browser error -- your system is trying to wipe a device that "no longer exists" because I no longer own it. I factory wiped it before I traded it in at Best Buy to get a Quest 2.

The underlying problem here is that your system is trying to solve the wrong problem. The option is to "delete device data" -- on the device.  That's not what Pookiemonstr was trying to do, and it's not what I'm trying to do. I'm not trying to delete the information ON the device. I'm trying to remove the device from MY ACCOUNT.

If someone in Meta Quest Support could kindly provide a way for us to remove a device from our account, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I still have a device on my account that I sent back under warranty, and now I want to give my quest away.  Did you figure out how to delete the accounts? I'm getting the same message in red when I try deleting either one. Super frustrating. I'd appreciate a heads up! TIA!

I'm sorry but "until a certain period of time has passed" is just a poor response. What is the exact duration of "a certain period of time"?

Did you guys ever figure out how to remove devices from the Oculus/Meta app on iOS? The device still appears there but on the web portal it doesn't.  Why can't they just figure it out and let us remove the device from our accounts? Seems like some kind of spying.

you can't delete it if you dont have the device anymore. After you request to delete, and enter the code. You get an error "An operation was requested for an unknown or inaccessible device. Please ensure the device exists and try again later."

Not working here 😕

The device is removed from my account in the web portal, but not from the iOS meta quest app.

Would be nice to have a solution here from a real Meta support rep, instead of someone at separate company with poor English and technical comprehension.

It worked for me by removing it from webportal like user NateDopp described. Than I just deleted all user data from Meta Quest app in Android app-settings, and after that I uninstalled and reinstalled Meta app. Now I only have 1 device shown in web and Android app. Dont know it works the same way for iOS though.

That oculussupport is a ai bot.

I have the same issue. From my quest app click install game. You see tons of older headsets which is the same headset. When you click devices on page nothing shows up. Same with I helped a roommate remove facebook account done a factory reset. Went too his account to devices an nothing is there.

But the app shows it.

Seriously why is this issue marked as 'solved'? There is literally no solution for this issue, as already noted by many others in this thread. I cannot for the life of me understand why we are not allowed to delete old devices. Especially in the oculus app this is quite annoying. It seems that the reasons Meta is giving is actually against international privacy laws, since they say that they do it to keep the data. The data is mine and not Meta's, i have the right to delete my data and they don't have the right to make that choice for me.

META, DO A BETTER JOB AND FIX IT NOW

Jeez, still solution for this is ridiculous. I'm also having the same issue and read through this thread of canned solutions from the Metabots. No help at all.

Hi MSMSCHF! We understand that you'd like to remove a device from your account. At this time, there's no way to remove a device from your account. The device will have to be registered to another account or a certain time has to have passed, and the device will automatically be removed from your account. We hope we were able to provide clarification!

MetaQuestSupport, how long is the "certain time has to have passed"?  Like, what is the exact time frame?  Because mine has returned to Amazon over 2 years ago.  I've seen other users who've had devices they've returned 3 years ago still show.  So if it's not 2-3 years, when is it?

If you know that "a certain time has to have passed", what is the certain time?  4 years?  10 years?  I'm just curious what timeframe we are looking at for it to be removed when "a certain time has passed".  I'm over 2 years myself of a device that was returned to Amazon.

I looked for this on various websit es including youtube and solved it using to way to directly unlink individual accounts from within the app on your iPhone. However, there are a couple of workarounds you can try:-

1. Log Out of All Accounts:-

Here's how to do it:-

  • Open the Instagram app and make sure you're on the account you don't want to keep linked.
  • Tap your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
  • Tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.
  • Select "Settings".
  • Scroll down and tap "Log Out".
  • You'll be prompted to confirm if you want to log out of all accounts. Choose "Log Out" again.

2. Remove Saved Login Information (for iPhone with iOS 11 or later):-

Here's how to do it:-

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Tap on "Passwords & Accounts".
  • Look for "Instagram" under "Accounts". If you don't see it listed, this method won't work for your situation.
  • Tap on "Instagram".
  • Toggle off the switch next to "AutoFill".
  • Tap "Delete Account" to remove the saved login information for all Instagram accounts.
