Update March 25th: Meta Store support told me that the latest mobile app Version 259 was released with a fix to resolve the issues described in this thread. So, the resolution was given officially. Thank you Meta for the fix, and thanks everyone in this thread as your voices indicated how this issue was significant. ๐Ÿ˜„

----------

During setup of Oculus Go by Meta Quest for iOS Version 257.0.0.9.106, I could not play "Health and safety" video, although I pressed "Watch Video" button. As a result, I cannot complete setup my Oculus Go. How do I proceed with the next steps? I also tried the setup by Meta Quest for Android, but the symptom is all the same.  Version 258.0.0.9.109 released on Marth 13th also show the same symptoms. Still the setup fails and the headset becomes useless.

I can click "Continue" button. But all the three links are inactive.

As the video never starts, I cannot complete the setup. My headset becomes a photoviewer of single image prompting me to grab smartphone.

Please factory reset and try again. I just tried it. Someone at meta is a kind soul. Cheers.

Todayโ€™s new release of Meta Quest for iPhone build 258 shows the same symptoms. Still the problem persists.

sucks. Not going to purchase any Meta products anymore. A simple fix for developers and they cant even help.

I found an interim solution.

  1. Uninstall Meta Quest mobile app from your Android smartphone.
  2. Download .apk file of Meta Quest mobile app Version 255 from somewhere.
  3. Install the apk file to Android smartphone.
  4. Perform factory reset of your Oculus Go headset.
  5. Open Meta Quest and just add your headset as new device.

This would be viable unless the version 255 becomes obsolete.

Taco.grande.2022 solution does NOT work for me.  โ˜น๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜
Video will NOT play.  Meta changes have pretty much made this device useless.  Why would anyone purchase anything from them in the future?

I found an older version of the software that works version 245

The health and safety video works once downloaded and installed go to Devices Manage your devices connect to your headset by making sure your cell phone and headset wifi are on and connected...then click on finish setup and continue...

Unfortunately that wont help on ios and the only android device I have is a Shield which crashes when you try and run the app on it. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Dear Meta, just upload the old version to the app store and call it Meta Quest Legacy App or something.  Its literally moments of your time to fix this if you dont want to fix the app proper..

Yes, please.  This makes sense.

I am in an ongoing chat asking them to do this but they ignore the ask and keep saying we are investigating.

Hey guys! I've been following this thread, and I wanted to let you know that I've brought this issue up with our engineering teams. I do want to let you know, though, that this may be related to the information in this article that we no longer provide bug fixes for the Go as of the end of 2022. Hopefully, the engineers will be able to get back to me with more information about this issue, and I'll let you know what they've said as soon as I hear from them.

I did a factory reset of my Oculus Go.

Going through setup on the Android App it gets stuck on Health and Safety video and I can't click and watch the video or get past it.

FINALLY THE PROBLEM SOLVE..๐Ÿ˜‡

Hey VR.TOUR.360 & amerbs,

I've had the same problem before with my oculus go, I couldn't continue the video and can't finish the setup...u know what I did?

I tried with oculus app version 241.1.0.5.119. That mean last year's version worked, and I can play video and finished set-up. Good luck everyone .๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡

Hello optimis.success, thank you very much for the info. Could you please tell me how you managed to download the 2023 Meta iOS app? Where can I download it? I would be very grateful if you could provide the link. Thank you very much.

Hello Shiro, is there a way to download an older version of oculus go app on ios?

I am having the same problem as VR Tour 360, (and others here with an ios device) with my oculus go; it is stuck on the health and safety video screen.

Sigh!

Hope a fix is found before my eyesight fails.

ShiroTenko  this is NOT solved.  This is a work around for android only. If you post the same version of the app onto the ios appstore as a legacy download then the problem is solved but it currently is NOT.

Hello DrZiltoid, since marking a post as a solution is the only way to bring certain replies to the top of the thread, that's what I did here for optimis. I fully understand it's not the solution, but I wanted more users to be aware of the workaround while we try to have this matter looked into.

They can't be a solution. When Meta make those old builds invalid (e.g. "update the app, otherwise you can't signin with your Meta account."), we will lose any method to setup Oculus Go headset again. As long as the statement https://www.meta.com/help/quest/articles/headsets-and-accessories/oculus-rift-s/go-changes/ is valid, it's not allowed for Meta to terminate use of Oculus Go. Termination of support is okay. But what we are actually suffering is device lockup by the latest official apps.

the answer from meta:

Hello Benoรฎt,

It's Jada from Meta Store Support. I trust you are well.

As promised, this is a friendly follow up regarding your query.

Upon looking into this for you, kindly be advised that the app has been updated and one of the features were to remove the safety video. As much as I would love to assist you with this matter, we do not have the resources due to it being a software update.

I realize this may not be the response you were hoping for and I really do empathize with you.

I truly appreciate your understanding on this matter.

Not sure I am following...should we expect an updated app coming up now without the safety video feature? and would the update apply for the iOS app? As of now the latest iOS version of MetaQuest is 258, over a week old.

I'm thinking they are talking of the version that has not the videos anymore and blocks us. ๐Ÿ˜•

Meta doesn't have the resources?  Who has the resources?
