[Resolved] - Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery only connects for a few seconds

Is anyone working on the Quest 3 elite battery issue?  It charges but won’t connect to the headset for more than a few seconds, meaning you cannot charge through the back port.

We’ve seen some people having trouble with their Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery not being recognized by the headset or not charging. We’re happy to help look into this with anyone having trouble, and we recommend contacting our support team here so we can take a closer look.

Anyone have a working solution? I just ran into this issue. I've tried several reboots in different configurations (elite strap connected/disconnected), Ive tried headset factory reset and elite strap reset by holding the button the strap for >12 seconds.

Best I can do is the strap will connect to the headset for 5 seconds and then disconnects.

Working with support now. Not sure what they're going to do yet.

We all have the same issue. There is no solution at the moment. Meta says they are aware, but it's unclear if this can be fixed via a software upgrade.

An update from my experience is that after returning my original Elite Strap with Battery to a local retailer, I ended up purchasing another from a different store on November 7th.  Since November 7th, the new strap has worked flawlessly.  I have run the battery all the way down to 0%, repeat cycle multiple times and it is still working.  Not once has it starting acting up like the previous.  I am very cautiously optimistic that the problem won't return with the new, but I will have no hesitation to return it should it go bad. The box and store receipt are stored safely "just in case".

I am not sure if it makes a difference, but my original faulty strap had a manufacture date of 7/2023 and the new strap is 8/2023.

Actually, my 1 month old Q3 Elite battery strap box is dated 2023/07 and it still continues to work perfectly.  Could be more of a batch/location related thing.  Who knows?

That makes me feel better about getting a replacement. Annoying that they can't send the replacement before I ship mine back. I asked and they said they couldn't. However I also asker if the replacement would be refurbished or new and they said it would definitely be new and not refurbished.

I will still push back and say you will send the faulty one back as soon as you receive the new one it’s faulty not like they need it back to check prior to sending a new one out and not like it’s an isolated incident either

Yeah I tried to push back twice. It just doesn't seem worth my time to talk to support again. I can return it, hopefully get a new one and finally have a working setup.

At this point my attitude towards the quest 3 is that it's a great headset plagued with avoidable issues. I bought the quest 3 and the elite battery strap on release day. The headset had a dead pixel and now the strap is dead. After they replace the strap I will have literally nothing of my original order.

It's just kinda sad ya know.

I'm having the same problem as many owners of the Elite Strap with Extended battery. AND this is the second headset that is having the problem. I returned my original elite head strap because it had this problem. I received the replacement on Friday, and by noon the next day the extended battery wasn't working and showing the exact same symptoms as my first one.

my strap stopped working after 2 days, got a replacement, also stopped working after 1 day. rerutned both and waiting on my BOBO VR. META is very annoying for not addressing this. what is going on? And why is it still being sold?

Such a pathetic testimony - Meta seems unable to get the Elite Strap to work properly at all. I've been having trouble with my Elite Strap with Battery for the Quest 2 for 6 months now. When the Elite Strap is connected to the Quest, the headset no longer turns off and restarts in a continuous loop. (Read more here: https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/Known-Issue-LED-green-when-elite-strap-disconnected-from-the/m-p/1098493#M240399) Now there's also the drama with the new Quest 3 and the Elite Strap. I wonder what these people are doing. They release immature devices, charge high prices for accessories, and then act unresponsive and silent. Meanwhile, the junk keeps being sold! Support doesn't respond or even return calls at agreed-upon times. Absolutely poor service! And the whole situation is especially frustrating because the Quest 3 itself is a fantastic product, arguably the best headset on the market. It's disappointing to see such potential success hindered by these issues.

Verdaderamente si me he gastado el dinero con el strap original era para precisamente evitar este tipo de problemas. No esperaba ese silencio por parte de meta, muy lamentable todo

I have now charged my Meta Quest 3 + Elite strap with battery for 7 ½ hours! Still not finished. The headset is 100% and the elite strap battery 64%. I'm sure the first time I charged them together it only took 2 hours.

Typically, the Elite battery won't go above 70% charge if it senses it's on your head.  So next time make sure you fully power down the headset before putting it on charge through the elite strap.

From Meta Support pages;

Note: For safety reasons, the Elite strap with battery has to verify that the headset is not on your head in order to fully charge to 100%, and it can only do this if it's plugged into your headset. To fully charge Elite strap with battery, ensure that it is plugged into your Quest 3, not on your head, and connected to a power adapter that is 18 W or higher.

Otherwise, contact Meta Support I guess.

I'm just not sure my quest 3 is fully powered down. I hold the power button until the unit says power off.  If I leave the headset a week without using it the batterys are drained.

Hi Guys,

I signed up for the PTC v60 software last night. Nothing has been updated yet, I still have v59 firmware, but this morning I see that the orange - green led is not flashing, and the Elite Strap is working fine. I don't understand what happened, but it works fine now...

Same boat, unit failed day one after first discharge...

Tried about anyting mentioned in these pages, nothing works. I doubt it could be resolved in software due to the speed at which the battery disconnects, including from any other object plugged to it (my phone by example)
