[Resolved] - Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery only connects for a few seconds

I tested again.  I disconnected and reconnected the extended battery.  I see a pop-up message indicating that the extended battery has been connected.  I hover over the battery indicator for the headset and I see 2 indicators as expected.  However, about 3-4 seconds later when I hover over the headset indicator again, the extended battery is no longer displayed.  Only the headset battery level is visible when hovering after the initial couple of seconds.

I have this issue, i whant a refund but the strap have no refound button on my order !!! What the hell 🥹

Hi, I called Mets customer service and they said based on the serial number that I was eligible for a replacement.  They were going to send one but it was faster to return for a new one locally.  The new strap and battery work as expected.  They also said that it is not a firmware issue.

im haveing the same issues as all previously stated, bought my q3 and extended battery on 10/14/23. issues started today 10/17/23 and thought it was strange the eb barely gave extra life to unit (less than 2 hrs)

My Quest 3 is doing the same as well, I plug it in and it shows the extended battery icon just briefly before disappearing again and I’m running the latest version, even if I try hovering over where it should be, it’s only the default battery and doesn’t show the battery pack also. 

What was also weird was that before it broke the battery pack would show something like “100% battery, 100% extended battery” then something like “67%battery, 54% extended battery” then was like 14%battery, 1% extended battery” until it gave me the low battery warning 30mins or so after. Like it didn’t use the extended battery fist then the normal battery like on the Quest 2.

Let me remind you Meta, $130 for some plastic and what essentially is a $10 battery pack from Amazon. $130! Get your house in order.

VR is as it's expected for $500. But your 'almost required' accessory prices and quality wow. 

Problem started for me after it did an update this afternoon so I'm pretty sure it's firmware? I haven't a freaking clue. 5700297669526537896 not using PTC.

After skimming the comments, now I don't know if it's the headset, the battery pack, some firmware issue?

Same issue, elite strap battery won't charge or register anymore!
Bought the 512GB, charging stand, elite strap with battery...soooo much money invested in this and then this happens

Same issue here. The strap connects for a second and vanishes leaving the headset with limited battery life.
It is also impossible to charge the headset through the elite strap while it's connected to the AC.

I opened a ticket, curiously however, I was not able to select Elite Strap 3 as a subject of the support issue, so I've chosen Quest 3 battery life which felt like the closest one.

After doing some digging and my personal experience, this seems to be a firmware/software issue from the latest update on the Quest 3. The battery and Quest 3 "communicate" and it seems the the headset is having trouble communicating with the battery after last update. 

The communication handles the charging of the Quest 3 from the battery, for example when you plug in the battery to charge, it charges the Quest 3 first, then the battery and when you are using it, it drains from the battery first and then the quest 3. When the quest 3 is low, it pulls power from the battery to charge etc. There is quite of bit of data transfer that is happening between the battery and the Quest 3 so the software knows the status of each and it can modulate what is getting charged, when to start/stop etc. ALL of this broke in the last update.

This is why all 4 straps don't work for  xrm550, the headset's firmware has gone bonkers and can't communicate with any of the elite strap batteries.

My Elite Strap is 07/2023 so I don' think it's really a hardware issue, more of a software one because of the way they decided to link battery and quest 3 unit together.
