Question

Unable to Install Meta Horizon Application on Windows 11 PC

My Quest 3 is connected to my Widows 11 PC via a USB 3 link cable.

After the connection between headset and PC got a few times disconnect mid game, I decided to try a repair off the link software with no success.

The software was automatically removed from my system.

to be sure there are no remaining meta code in the system I followed the steps to manually delete left over oculus folders.

After that I downloaded the Meta Horizon Link Application from Meta's webpage.

At the end off the installation  process I get following message:

Restart Computer

Sorry, we encountered an error during installation.

Please restart your computer and try running Link Setup again.

If you still experience issues contact Quest Support

Any advice?

Regards

Meta quest link and meta horizon link don't work on Windows 11. Use Windows 10. There, I saved you tens of hours of mental anguish and confusion that you never fully resolve because you can't get any straight answers anywhere.

There is a forum post explaining you guys can fix this issue. FYI its due to bad install pathways. Just put out a hotfix for the Link app installer and help save bunch of people the frustration of having to look for other software, which has worse latency on average.

Tried the fix, the app opens now. But now it won't recognize my USB-C connection. Waiting for a fix package from devs.

Aight, so apparently just had to do like 12-15 hours of troubleshooting, rooting around on the interwebz for the elusive "drivers from the time before", and make a Reddit post (with assistance from people more well versed in these issues than myself with moar troubleshooting) and we got a temporary fix going. All for 10 Meta bucks I can only spend at the company store.. I'm a rich man XD (Seriously though the gesture was appreciated)

However, it actually looks like Meta has now resolved the issue with an update to the app which I just installed like 30 minutes ago. Installed update > allowed the program to install new drivers like its been screeching at me to do for the past 3 days lol and GG we're back in business!

No love here yet (still having the issue) and the .exe is still the same size as it was before.

I've had this problem for months now... I am so glad to finally see that someone managed to get support on board for this because god knows I tried... My old laptop broke and I bought a RTX5050 Laptop and the app just never completes the installation. Online threads suggested that the app is not yet compatibile with the RTX50 series which is very frustrating. Thank you for this thread, I will be coming back to see if anything has progressed...

Been running it on a 5070ti for while with no issues. Can still not install the new app. Waiting for a fix like so many others.

Unfortunately the "Support" folder was erased during install attempts so no go here, but thanks.

Yeah, would have been too easy, I guess🙁

Finally got it working. My solution comes in two parts: quickly pasting the old files into the drivers folders before it finishes installing AND choosing a different drive and folder to install in, instead of C:/program files/Meta Horizon.

What do you mean old files?

Also: I only have a C:/ drive... I can't change the install location upon launch

Also: By plugging in an external hard drive I can still only install to C:/

Update: Didn't work for me.

wow, that's unacceptable, or is it just a sign that quest is a fail project that will soon be closed for good?

This has been an ongoing issue for 6 months?! **bleep**ing insane. USB C to Ethernet, plug it in your router, disable wi fi on headset, make sure router is plugged in computer. Run Virtual Desktop and ignore the not connected message. Play your games. Meta, seriously, this **bleep** is to expensive to be clowns. Fix your **bleep** primary feature on your product. Now.
