Question

Can't un/pair controllers to Meta 3 Headset

Hi,

I have about 20 Meta Quest 3 headset. I mostly develop for them hands free, so I don't care about the controllers at all. The things is all the controllers got mixed up.

I want to do factory reset on many devices but I can't proceed without pairing some controllers, but they don't pair because they are paired to hell knows what device with hell know which account.
I need to re-pair them without accessing original account as it mentioned in support: https://www.meta.com/help/quest/967070027432609/

Also this factory reset method for the controllers don't work too: Quest 3 controller pairs but none of the buttons work - 1107964

Please help me solve this controllers hell.

Hi joolimooli0203 πŸ™‚

I want to do factory reset on many devices but I can't proceed without pairing some controllers,

Why can't you proceed? πŸ€”

You don't need controllers to factory reset a headset.

To perform a factory reset using your Meta Quest:

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Hold the power and volume (-) buttons on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen has loaded on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

In none of these steps a controller is required.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Hi Choleni  I can't proceed using the headset after the factory reset, because the headset requests pairing controllers at the first screen (where it asks to remove the paper from new controllers), and won't proceed without it. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

The remove paper screen will go away after a while and you can continue..... but you are right, you need controllers for the set up.

You don't need to assign all your controllers to the correct account........ you only need one pair of controllers.

Don't you even have one headset with working controllers on it?

If so, unpair those, use them to set up the other headset.

After setting up that headset, unpair the controllers and use them to set up the next headset and so on....

That's how I would solve your controllers hell πŸ˜‚
