Horizon link not working

My Q3 was linking fine to my PC this afternoon, then literally an hour or two later, will not link.

I'm using a usb 3.0 cable, it is in a USB 3 port, power management of USB port is set correctly.

I get a notification saying 'Meta Quest Link isn't working correctly. Click here to check our support article'.

There is no support article.

I have restarted the headset and PC, repaired the Horizon app, logged out and back into the Horizon app, restarted the OVR service and I still can't get it to work.

Anyone else having or had similar issues recently?

Horizon software 83.0.0.333.349

Headset V83.1034 build 5156385.14650.520

Grateful for any ideas.

Had exactly the same problem on Meta Quest 3, appears to be a lot about this on various social media platforms so possibly an issue with an update. Started somewhere between 2pm and 8pm UK time yesterday (Sunday 18th January 26).

Link servers are down. It has nothing to do with any updates (there weren't any).

Same Issue. The workaround with turning off the Internet before starting Link Mode works for me.

FIXED: Add a firewall rule in Windows Defender to block C:\Program Files\Meta Horizon\Support\oculus-dash\dash\bin\OculusDash.exe

You will then be able to use Oculus link without having to disconnect your network connection first.

Same here ! Like Katzup  I found the same solution. To work around this bug, you need to connect the VR headset to the PC while the PC has no internet connection. Once the headset is connected, you can reconnect to the internet.

Before this solution, I had uninstalled the Meta Quest Horizon app using third-party software and then reinstalled it. Updating the headset and performing a factory reset will not change anything.

Regarding post by Markstockwell: FIXED: Add a firewall rule in Windows Defender to block C:\Program Files\Meta Horizon\Support\oculus-dash\dash\bin\OculusDash.exe

Can anyone explain the steps needed, please

The issue is caused by OVRService.exe / Oculus Dash (Outbound)
As already mentioned here, the requests made by this service are responsible for the problem. You actually have to disable the internet connection in order to activate the link and/or avoid getting a black screen. Once you are inside the link, you can probably enable the internet connection again.

Steamframe releasing soon then Meta can flush themselves down the toilet like a good pile of crap.

exactly the same to me. Ironically the usb link cable detection works with high speed 3.2gbs, but pc connection stucks with showing meta logo for ever. i tried:

  • killed oculus server and all task related to meta or oculus
  • reinstalled meta link,
  • reset the quest 3 to factory default
  • used wlan link too as a try
  • checked the quest connection on a older pc, which had for sure no upgrade since a month

nothing helped. link always hangs at meta logo. :-( I am quite desperate.
