Meta Quest Link not working

Hello,

I used to be able to play on my VR with a link cable perfectly fine, but I recently got a new computer, and it doesn't work. I checked the requirements and my PC meets them without question, but whenever I try to connect the headset, my computer gives me messages like "Meta Quest Link isn't working correctly. Click here to check our support article." I checked that article, but nothing seemed to help. The Quest program on my computer shows that my headset is connected and ready to launch, and so does my headset, but when I launch it through the link cable, it just doesn't load, and it stays on a black screen. I've also tried connecting my headset through a USB hub instead of the actual computer to connect it through USB 3, but it still doesn't work.

Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?

Thank you!

Thank you for letting us know! Just to be on the same page were you able to update your drivers? We might need to restart the set up again. Please use the following steps and let us know if anything changed:

  1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
  2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
  3. Backup any necessary content
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode
  5. Uninstall the Oculus PC app using the Control Panel
  6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:
    • C:\Program Files
  7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
    • C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
    • Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
      1. Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
      2. Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter
      3. File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
      4. Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
  8. Restart your computer in normal mode
  9. Reconnect your computer to the internet
  10. Install the Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website here
  11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

Hey there, dannylad1990! We know that having link issues and a screen with three loading dots while trying to enjoy the awesome world of VR can cause many questions, so we would love to look further into this for you in order to get you back to a smooth VR experience. Before we start, we would like to thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you have already taken. Now, if you can, please try the following to see if it does the trick for you.

Ensure Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe is using the same graphics device as their 2D Desktop. To fix this:

1. Go to Windows Settings > System  > Display > Graphics Settings
2. Click Graphics performance preference
3. Click Choose an app to set preference > Desktop app
4. Locate your OVRServer_x64.exe. By default, this will be located as follows:
     - C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe
5. Click Add
6. Set this to Power Saving then close the settings menu and click Save
    - If this does not work or is already the setting selected, Performance Mode can be tried instead
7. Reset the computer and test VR Desktop

If you are still experiencing link issues after trying this, please don't hesitate to reach out to us again, and we will be more than happy to continue to look into this for you. Let us know how it goes!

This 100% worked for me. Meta quest link on windows 11 build 24h2 hasn't worked in a couple of weeks. Kinda gave up using the headset because it kept Steam games from working also. Was ready to sell this thing. Glad this fixed it.

same for me, none of these "suggestions" are a fix. Time to buy a vive and never look back

Hey there xXTeamThreeXx! I know there are several steps in this thread as well as many others, all seemingly unrelated floating around. There can be several different root causes. If you can provide us with the error message you're getting (if it's different from the OP) and the trouble shooting steps you've tried so far we'd be happy to looking into other steps for you to try. Looking forward to hearing back from you on this.

Please find a temporary solution until you can correct the software. Why does the Quest need the quest link app to be visible to other desktop programs. The hardware is showing up but nothing recognizes the headset, now not even your link app recognizes its very own headset.

The problem is in the update.
Everything is fine on the old version.
This is a huge failure for the meta.
I propose to remove this error in a timely manner.
Because there is no point in buying glasses without the possibility of connecting them to a computer.
Thank you,

did you ever figure it out i have the same issue and i have done all these steps while also factory reseting my headset..

Brought out my headset again, after a year of not using it because of frustrations with troubleshooting, and I am having the same problem as these people here. Link seems to work fine, but I'd rather just not use the headset if I have to stay strapped to my PC. I enable airlink and I get the meta logo with 3 loading dots, it then goes away, but it sends me back to the native quest home screen and says something along the lines of, connected extra options in quicksettings menu. The only option I see is the remote desktop one. Which when I use I can see my PC desktop and can attempt to launch games, but they don't open in VR. I then try re-enabling link, thinking maybe it will place me in the white blocky pc home menu, but then it just gets stuck on the meta logo with the black background and loading dots. My airlink used to work just fine. I have already factory reset my quest, deleted all files relating to oculus as suggested, restarted computer and quest a plethora of times. Nothing is getting airlink to function again, this is just straight up broken.

My experience with the Meta.
Let's summarize the help from the Quest Link App. Since January, 53 emails, 20 hours to complete the instructions they sent me.
Lost projects worth 20 thousand. Still problem not solved.
The worst service I have seen in the last few years.
I hope that investors do not know about this because the company has serious problems with the use of glasses.
This app is defective. And they project the solution onto us. Why doesn't it work on META

I'm no longer recommending the hardware. They update and their devices stop working.

I'm having the same issue. But not with a new computer. It's the same one I've been using. For almost a year I never a had issue. Then out of the blue, I'm having problems connecting.  I've gotten a new cable and still having issues. I'm so frustrated! I'm about to abandon my quest 3 completely. The more I read about the issue, the more irritated I get. It seems as though nothing is being addressed.

yeah but they need money to keep improving and if we don't recommend their product they loose their market share. They should focus and keeping their current customers happy with their product to keep generating new business.
