No audio when using Oculus Link

I have no audio on my Quest headset when using Oculus Link.  These are all the things I have tried to resolve the issue:
  • Reboot PC and/or Quest and plugged things back in in many different orders.
  • Restarted the Oculus service.
  • Tried different USB ports.
  • Tried different USB cables.
  • Tried both an active and a passive extender.
  • Tried throwing a USB 3 hub into the mix just because, both as the first part of the chain and as the second part.
  • Tried with headphones plugged into the Quest and with them removed.
  • Tried toggling all the options related to sound that I could find within the software (Devices > Quest and Touch, all those sound options).
  • Repaired / reinstalled Oculus software.
  • Uninstalled Virtual Desktop Streamer app and its audio driver.
  • Changed my desktop speakers from 5.1 to stereo.
  • Attempted setting every single audio output device as default in Windows.
  • Plugged in my CV1, went through the setup, and then tried piping audio through the Oculus Rift Headphones audio output adapter.
  • Reinstalled oculus-driver.exe.
  • Opened a ticket with Oculus Support (they told me they won't support beta software, lol)
Is there anybody with the same issue who found a solution?  Or at this point is my only bet to wait a year until it stops being beta and Oculus Support actually tries to help?
EDIT: I finally got it working after uninstalling the NVIDIA HD Audio driver.
  1. On your keyboard, press Win+X > Select "Device Manager"
  2. Open up the "Sound, video and game controllers" node.
  3. Right click the NVIDIA High Definition Audio driver and choose "Uninstall device".

Hey everyone! It looks like this thread is still getting some traffic from the occasional user, so I'm going to go ahead and lock it. This looks like an issue that was present in the early days—dating back to V13. To avoid floating old threads with outdated information, I highly recommend creating a new thread detailing the new issue, so that our teams can monitor new emerging issues caused by recent releases—or other leading causes. I also recommend taking a look with the native search function to find a more recent existing thread with the same issue.

I have Oculus-App-Version 12.0.0.49.268 (12.0.0.49.268) and have still the audio problem.
In the german version of the oculus-app it says: Kein Headset-Audio

The update has certainly fixed it for me for now - after downgrading back to 1.43 (I had to run setup and do a repair to achieve this), I'm still left with the new Oculus Virtual Audio Device in the sound control panel and finally have audio over the headset.
Edit: Haven't tried to see if this will persist beyond a reboot.

I'll have to try that. I opted out of the PTC before v12 managed to install. It would be great if letting it install and then rolling back would give me the virtual audio device.

Good luck.  There's no guarantees here unfortunately :)  Note that I did try to roll back by just unchecking the PTC, but as it seemed to stall the download I went for the repair option.  Not sure if that made the difference / stopped it removing the new audio drivers.

I've noticed that when I do the Quest + Link that audio is still coming through the Rift speakers even though the Rift isn't on lol. So I think the next thing I'll do is unplug the rift altogether and see if that'll get the sound pumping where its supposed to. Honestly, if I can get the Quest + Link working reliably, I won't need the Rift anymore anyway :)

Same issue.... Think it was working and then went haywire...
Have a workaround, using my Bluetooth earbuds through pc while playing vr. Not ideal but works in a pinch.

Well, I got my audio working. I opted back into the PTC, let it install, and restarted the Oculus app to make sure it was fully updated. It installed new drivers, after which I had the new Oculus Virtual Audio Device. Then I opted back out of the PTC again, let it do it's rollback to 1.43, and restarted again. The virtual audio device driver remained installed.

At first the audio still seemed to be broken, but I eventually found that it will only work when the Quest audio in the Dash settings menu is set to 100%. With that set I can adjust the actual Quest volume with the physical volume control. I didn't play anything where I could test if the mic was working, but it's nice to have proper sound through my Quest headphones.

I will have to play around with that today, got my Link working late last night however my audio is only coming out through my desktop speakers. I do have the new Oculus Virtual Audio Device as I was previously running the PTC, however selecting it for my audio in windows still did not work.

Ok so I just completely removed the Quest, and went through the Quest Link setup again.
Now I am getting audio through the Quest rather than desktop speakers. Not sure why, but that seems to have resolved the audio for me - at least for now.
