Oculus app stuck on “pairing your quest 2” screen

Title really says it all. My oculus is stuck on the paring your quest screen. My phone says it’s connected but the app is stuck. I have already tried deleting and reinstalling the app and turning on and off Bluetooth so I don’t know what to do.

Connect the headset and phone via bluetooth. (+ the phone and Quest must be connected to the same Wi-Fi access point, say, both to 5 GHz). This helped me and I started broadcasting to my phone. Quest 3 v59.

I was having the same issue but have managed to get it to work but uninstalling and clearing the cache for the oculus app on my mobile. I then downloaded an older version of the app (Dec '22) and installed and paired that way.

It worked with no issues and then updated the app to the latest version (option in the app when you use an older version) and it has still paired with no issues. Hope this works for you.

Hey there, DesertBlast and welcome to the community forums 👋

Have you found a fix for this? If not, it may be best to reach back out to Meta Quest Support to see if there are any further troubleshooting checks them may be able to suggest to get this to work 🙂

Hi, I was able to resolve the issue. I had put one of my headsets in a Meta for Work account. When I deleted teh app off my phone and factory reset the headset. It stayed connect to the Meta for Work account. I had to delete the headset from there to repair it with the app

How do you delete a headset from the app?

Thanks for reaching out to us, AM.WoodWorker! We understand that you want to remove your headset from the app, and we're eager to provide assistance. In the past, users have successfully removed their headset from the app by performing a factory reset. We would appreciate it if you could do the same, here.

In the event that a factory reset is not successful, please follow the steps below to remove your data from an Oculus Go.

To remotely remove your data from an Oculus Go headset:

  1. On a computer or mobile phone, log in to https://secure.oculus.com/my/devices/.
  2. Choose your Oculus Go headset from the list of devices.
  3. Click Delete Device Data.
    • If you don't see this option, the software version on your device may not support remote wipe.
  4. Complete the on-screen verification steps to confirm your identity.

When the request has been submitted, your device will disappear from the list. The headset will factory reset the next time it turns on and connects to the internet.

We kindly request that you follow the steps above and inform us if they are successful. Your time is greatly appreciated and we can't wait to hear back from you!

Has anyone actually come up with a real solution that works? I've tried everything including contacting Meta support and being told that "we've exhausted all solutions" and I can purchase an extended warranty at a reduced price to replace the headset for $169. This is unacceptable when the problem obviously exists with their software as everything in the Quest 2 is functional and used to work prior to a system reset. Just like everyone else, it walks through the wifi connection step, updates the software on the unit and then gives you a code that gets rejected when trying to enter it in the Meta app on my phone. I am not going to essentially purchase another one of these units where there are known flaws that should have been addressed in a software update. I spent a lot of money for Christmas on both a used Quest 2 ($200) and a new ($300) Quest 2 with accessories (+$200) and apps (+100) for an oversized paperweight and NO SOLUTION that doesn't involve me purchasing a new unit! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Microsoft wouldn't expect me to buy a new desktop if my OS had a bug...I'd at least have the option to reinstall it.

I"ve tried (and spent many hours):

Deleting/reinstalling Meta App.

Default system on headset.

Rebooting Modem/Router.

Clearing Bluetooth cache.

Installing on different phone.

Disabling wifi band on router to make sure they are both using same.

Contacting support.

And probably many other things I can't remember at this point.

PS: Any billion dollar company would acknowledge this issue and would either fix the flaw with a software update, repair the item, or replace the item, similar to what an auto manufacturer does with a recall...not just shrug their shoulders and tell us it is out of warranty when this is obviously a software issue. I am so furious and disappointed with the company and this purchase. I can afford to buy another unit and be done with this issue, but what happens when that unit has the same problem...do I just keep replacing them because they won't admit there is a problem and fix it? Are these disposable VR headsets??? Seriously, I would like an explanation from someone in charge on what us consumers should expect from their products when a problem like this is ignored and is obviously not the fault of the consumer. A factory reset should do just that...not brick the system.

This is not working for me. I turned on and off. Internet is fine but it won't pair. I have an iphone 7s and works fine with my Oculus Quest 1 and won't recognize the 2. Please help.

Good luck. Meta doesn't seem to care enough to research the bug, fix it, and provide a software update. Done everything, yet it still won't connect. It used to work before last system restore, so it's not hardware related...it just won't accept the code when pairing and you can't move past that screen on the headset. PS: I'm an application developer, so I know what a huge failure this is on Meta's part to not address and fix the issue. I've spent over 8 hours trying different things to restore this headset but nothing has worked. If Windows crashes, you don't buy a new computer, you reinstall Windows. This doesn't appear to be an option with Meta.

Thanks for your help, but I tried all of that and more. Even created a guest wifi network with 5g band only and connected both to it. It just doesn't work and Meta won't address the issue.

I found this link which explains how reinstalling the firmware has worked for many, but the download for the firmware is unavailable. Any idea where I can get it?

You can get it here, it's a unofficial source btw. Since meta also doesn't provide quick and easy repository for us to download from. https://cocaine.trade/Quest_2_firmware

But beware that updating to any version above v42 will make impossible to downgrade to an older firmware later on, I did it and now I'm stuck anda can't even try to downgrade to a 2022 firmware to try running with an older version of cellphone app

You have to activate and pair both controllers. This was stopping me, i just used one. I couldn't understand what was wrong. It's waiting for both controllers to pair.

Both controllers were in range. You technically shouldn't even need controllers to pair, as I ended up getting a used headset without controllers and was able to pair without issue. I paired the controllers after getting the app to pair with the headset. With or without controllers, my original headset still doesn't pair. I've reached out to support for additional help, but I don't expect any results as I've tried everything from every thread and nothing will get this brick to pair. It's sitting in a drawer now.
