Oculus pattern reset

I have been locked out from my Quest 2 for more that a week. I created a pattern when I was tired so I forgot it when I went to bed and woke up and forgot every day after school I have been trying to reset it I try to connect my phone to the headset and click unlock pattern but still I need to put my pattern in to connect it and as said before I forgot it and can connect and reset it. Is there another solution that I could use and response is very helpful at this point.

Also I looked up oculus support and other videos one youtube which is most likely the worst place to go. This and contacting someone is all I have left at this point.

Hello there! Absolutely! A factory reset can be completed on the headset itself without the use of the unlock pattern! Here are the steps in order to perform the factory reset through your headset:

** Performing a factory reset is irreversible and will remove all account information, downloaded games, and content from the headset. Performing a factory reset won't remove content you've purchased or downloaded from your account.**

Turn off your headset.
Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

I have found the solution!!!!

without factory reset

put on your oculus and go to settings and type in the search bar unlock patter then go into it and it will say change or remove press remove and done

Still doesn't work. I can't even get into it without the password so it's effectively bricked my VR.

I can not believe after all these Years, you have failed to fix this. I paid a lot of money for this device. I never set a Pattern, because its a STUPID way of unlocking a Device, that if someone has a few hours could work or minutes if they get lucky. So I follow the Step and go to the APP, it needs the Pattern I haven't set to get to the Device. This is just so Stupid. I am returning the device because I did not pay £550 to be locked out then support says I have to wait 2 Business Days to get back in. So that will be in 4 days time. The fact there are hundreds if not thousands of people with this issue and they all lose their data and games, suggests Meta are making money from it. Well not from me, I will just return its only 2 days old FFS. I am livid and yet the only response you can get is from Oculus who don't know their own devices.

The evidence that the ability to remove unlock pattern is due to pure laziness or lack of concern for quest consumer has been shown in an earlier comment.

I can completely wipe, modify, and access all data when logged into the oculus but the one thing I can't do is change my pattern, because its protecting me somehow? from what? I don't get it! Even Android phones allow you to reset your pattern by providing pin or email.

This is akin to a websites telling you to wipe your whole account if you forget your login password (even if you remain logged in) instead of providing password reset link!

Seriously, a year after this thread was created, the SAME ISSUE - you cannot reset your swipe pattern without a full factory reset. No wonder the "Metaverse" has completely failed and flopped after billions....

If you know the unlock pattern and want to remove it, just go to Settings > Security > Remove Unlock Pattern

This happened to me aswell I eventually had to factory reset my oculus which will not be a problem as long as you have the meta quest app with all your data

Yeah, another user here who no longer has the pattern. The useless advice is to unlock via phone (which will not connect without the pattern), or to factory reset.

It's not that we "can't reset it" in the phone, it's that your own programming does not allow for your solution to be effective. You must HAVE the unlock pattern to connect the headset to your phone.

If we had the pattern, we wouldn't need to reset it. This was posted years ago and you have done nothing to fix it.

No surprise a mega corp like Meta would be so useless with regard to their own product issues.

Add another one stuck at the pattern. You guys at META need to elevate this issue, stop asking customers to reset to factory, how much more inconvenience do you want to put on the user ? Do you know how OFTEN people lose their password ? It is the #1 issue in IT department, EVERY SINGLE DAY a person lose a password and you guys made a PATTERN that cannot be RESET without WIPING THE OCULUS?

Jesus, change the pattern, PUT EXTREME cautious "THIS IS IRREVERSIBLE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE WITHOUT THE PATTERN, WRITE IT DOWN" 99% of the population will half ass the pattern as a "oh it is a convenient thing instead of password" not as "THIS IS THE NEW PASSWORD FOR EVERYTHING YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CHANGE" WARNING WARNING!

My god, you guys must be so intelligent to never EVER ever forget a password to a website, your devs must change this, stop letting this slide

I have ended up on this page trying to solve exactly the same issue! Pattern was somehow added to the Quest and now unable to remove without doing a hard reset through the actual headset. This is absolutely appalling! Going by this thread, this has been a problem for a very long time! My son has got a lot of game data on his headset and to not able to solve this issue without resetting the device is complete joke! This is incredibly poor design and a poor piece of software. Criminal even!

We have state and federal fair trading laws to deal with products that aren't fit for purpose. I think this might be the only option we might take. If Meta would be glad to refund us the full amount on this product, we might just forgive and forget and move on.
