Only Getting 300Mbps with 1Gbps USB-C Ethernet Hub

My Quest 3 can only manage 300Mbps on Speedtest.net with a 1Gbps USB-C hub (powered). The same hub, if plugged into my PC reaches over 900Mbps. I have a 1Gbps connection to Plusnet.

Has Meta nerfed the Ethernet connection in the Q3 in a recent update? I used to get full speed. I have tried multiple USB-C Ethernet cables/hubs, and they're all restricted to 300Mbps.

    [UPDATE]

    USB-C Ethernet adapter/hub choice matters.

The "Belkin Connect USB-C to Ethernet + Charge Adapter 100W, Gigabit Ethernet" I just received works and gives me 900Mbps. Caveat; it only gives full speed one way round so I have to be sure to plug it in the correct way round (300Mbps the wrong way). I tried flipping the adapter I already had but that stayed at 300 no matter which way round it was connected. Go figure...

Thanks for that. That's something I never checked!!

I have a 1gb fibernet connection too. I just did it as you made me curious. I've never had any gameplay issues to bother to check so it was an interesting exercise.

My result is that both are identical at around 880Mbps at the moment. Usually goes a bit higher later in the evening.

Try restarting your modem and/or your headset.

If it still continues send a report through the bug reporting tool on your headset.

Thanks for testing and sharing your results.

Yeah, done all the usual reboots etc. Looks like it's a headset issue then. I'll raise a bug or factory reset the Q3.

You're very welcome.  Did you check all your settings on the PC as well, just in case?! PS. Sorry, I meant settings on the headset! 😁

What version software is your Quest 3 on? Are you on PTC? Your issue reminds me of this old thread:

Also, make sure your network isn't being throttled by Lenovo Vantage "Network Boost" or Intel Killer Prioritization Engine etc.

It's on v2.7 (Sept 2026). Not using PTC.

For clarity, on Wi-Fi, I can get in excess of 650Mbps consistently. It's just the wired Ethernet route that is capped at 300.

Just to clarify, are you talking about PCVR with a USB-C 3.0 cable? I've never heard of Quest headsets using "wired ethernet".

    Edit: yes, it's a thing.

Did you know Quest 3 supports wired Ethernet? : r/oculus
