Question

Quest 1 connecting to meta horizon app but stuck on safety screen

Hi, i recently got a pair of quest 1s and i have been trying to connect them to my phone so i can get them set up on my pc. I followed what the app and headset said to do. But whenever i reached the safety explaination page I get stuck there. There is this 1 minute long video and it just keeps looping, and i can't click anything. I can either mute the volume, skip the video, return to the previous step, or just back out completely from the setup and have to start over again. If someone has a solution for this or knows of a fix, please let me know.

Hi Kotbs 🙂

The setup for Quest 1 doesn't work with the current Meta Horizon app, you'll need an older version.

The solution in the following thread explains what you need to do and includes a link to an older version. However, you may need to try different version numbers.

Meta support doesnt't recognize my Oculus Quest (1st gen) serial number so I cannot get help. | Meta Community Forums - 1274215

Thank you! I've been having this exact issue today!

I used to have an ovulus account and app and never had any issues, but I hadn't used my headset in a couple of years so unfortunately lost my account (pain in the arse Facebook/Meta).

Anyway I'm glad to finally know what the issue is and potentially fix it myself. But I wonder why they recognise the Q1 on yhd current app software and have renders of it etc if it's not supported? And why on earth doesn't it tell you it's no longer supported in current versions!?

Anyway I'm off to try the fix!

Maybe because Meta doesn't know it?😅

I think, devices that aren't supported anymore just fall over the edge of engenieers view and they don't even recognize that the setup of the Quest 1 no longer works.

Luckily, there are smart people outside finding workarounds like this one.

Good luck for setting up your Q1🤞

It's a really weird fix, but switching your device worked for me!! I started trying on an android device which didn't work and went through an entire day of troubleshooting, but as soon as I tried on my iPad it finally worked!! I know it's not accessable for everyone, especially since it doesn't work with a computer for some reason, but it is a fix! Putting this here so the information is more accessible because it took me so long to find lol
