Quest 2, 3 & Pro - Connectivity Issues

Hi everyone,
I have a Quest 3 and cannot connect the the wifi (it's a freebox, french internet provider).

Steps i took to troubleshoot :

  • I did manage to connect the quest to my cellphone via hotspot.
  • I factory reseted the quest and retried to connect to the freebox via passwords and QR code.
  • I trued to connect the quest via the phone app.
  • Rooter was rebooted, i was in the same room etc.
  • We have all other devices connecting without problem to this rooter.

Thanks for your help

Hey everyone! I'm a bit late to the party for announcing this, but the PTC for V67 just started rolling out not too long ago. It sounds really promising that some of you are already reporting improvements after updating! For anyone else participating in the latest V67 PTC build, please feel free to continue providing your feedback and experiences—along with your full build numbers, so that I can continue funneling these reports to the team. I don't have confirmation on whether or not a fix was supposed to roll out for this PTC build, but I'm working on finding out anything more I can share from the team. Thanks for continuing to keep me updated with your feedback!

Update:

Hey everyone, its looking like some people are seeing their issue resolved by updating to the latest PTC. If you're interested in testing out the new PTC release, you can find more information for how to opt in here. Please keep in mind that the PTC is a test build for unreleased Quest software builds, so while your Wi-Fi connectivity may have improvements, it's possible that other features of the software could be unstable. If you prefer to stay on stable public builds, I recommend holding out for the live V67 release, which should hopefully be coming out sometime soon!

Yet 2 disconnections in 2hours these evening with the V66 (last one ) . What is curious is that when this happens the network indicates « connected but no internet  access » and asks for the router code. Giving it solves nothing. After some minutes, the good connected accurs. Also I noticed when the default is present that the icon of wifi is covered by a 8 symbol in the left of the wifi network parameters I don’t know what is the signification.

For now it seems I succeeded solving the issue following the advices of BlackCat, I modified the mode of my router TPLINK Archer that was in AP to put it in normal router mode. So my configuration is the following:
1-A server from my FAI feeds a local network of all my connected devices in wifi 5, 5Ghz wireless as well as in LAN under a 192.168.0.xx adresses network using a DHCP addressing mode. It’s local adress  is 192.168.0.1
2-it feeds also by RJ45 cable from its built in Ethernet switch the WAN of a TPLINK Archer router dedicated to the wireless interface with the Q3 as well as the LAN RJ45 Gbit interface with my high end PC for PCVR flight sim using Virtual Desktop.
3-)This Archer is seen under the general local network at a fixed adress 192.168.0.191 through its Mac adress. It is itself configured separately as a 192.168.1.1 dedicated router and is not using its own DHCP capability to communicate with the LAN cable connected high end PC but also through a fixed stable adress at 192.168.1.167 using the PC Mac adress.

4-The Q3 is then connected wirelessly to the TPLINK using also the Q3 Mac adress and a fixed adress in the TPLINK dedicated network 192.168.1.143. Wireless link is done in wifi 6E at 6Ghz only  in 802.11ax with only 2 clients, 1 LAN is the PC 1 wireless is the Q3. Channels are 160Mhz auto (PC)

i played DCS 3 hours without a single disconnection with this configuration while I had generally 2 or 3 per hour while the TPLINK was in AP mode. Of course for multiplayer game I had to change my server port forwarding that was directed formerly straight to my PC to my router TPLINK and use a NAT forwarding of port inside the TPLINK toward the PC for these same ports (also adding this ports allowance in the windows firewall but it was already done before ). I will make more test duration next days and keep the community informed of the result. I am under the V66 firmware (last stable FW distributed in France)

i had to factory reset and can't enable PTC anymore so, back to having a q3 that doesn't work 😞

some news sources are claiming v67 is out, though there's no update to https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/articles/whats-new/release-notes/. any idea when we'll actually be able to get v67 / back into PTC with the fix?

While previously I always saw disconnects on Quest 3 when picking it up, after using V67 PTC for a while the Quest 3 no longer connects to 5Ghz and stays connected for more than a minute. Restated network infrastructure, no change. Restarted quest 3 no change. Currently joined Quest 3 to 2.4ghz network and it's stable there.

My quest 3 doesnt see 6ghz and i did everything like factory resetting router(tplinkaxe75) and headset .it was working fine on v64 and my pro sees 6ghz on v64 no problems .

Since i updated my quest 3 its not seeing 6ghz and playing on 5ghz is not optimal in my location cause i have a lot of 5ghz in my neighbourhood.

2 days ago out of the blue it saw 6ghz and connected easily with no problem.

Then i went out and came back and guess what it cant see 6ghz again!!!

I really dont understand whats going on!!

It seems over the past 2 months Meta has been doing everything they can to make the Quest headsets useless.

V65 borked the WiFi on it, making it harder to set up a new device or use the Pro Controllers.

V66 wrecked hand tracking, so basically I can put the headset on and look around, which I know I'm jinxing to be faffed up I'm V67.

C'mon Meta, we need answers, and we need results.

yes it seems that something went wrong with the wifi starting from v65.

how hard is it to return everything to what it was on v64!!

ive even tried v67ptc and nothing happened still cant see 6ghz and my 5ghz 2401mbps is still stuttering with lots of frame drops.

my quest pro works just fine and buttery smooth on v64.

from what im seeing online this problem has been going on for 8 months now and it seems they r not capable of fixing it

im thinking of selling my quest 3 cause its useless as a pcvr headset and i cant just keep it for standalone

Not a single disconnection with my FW V66 since I switch my dedicated to wireless TPlink AXE5400 router from AP to Router as I have explained in a previous post. The connection 6E to the 6Ghz is immediat and rock solid.

Yes, but this is not the point. I appreciate that buying extra hardware you were able to fix, but Wi-Fi on a Internet-connected device must be working in most scenarios without extra effort.

Well that is true that I’m presently using the Q3 mainly in PC VR with virtual desktop and  I had numerous disconnections when my dedicated router was in AP particularly in 6E. But when I used it on my regular wifi 5,  5 GHz through my server and a router wifi in AP I had absolutely no problems of disconnection.
