Quest 2, 3 & Pro - Connectivity Issues

Hi everyone,
I have a Quest 3 and cannot connect the the wifi (it's a freebox, french internet provider).

Steps i took to troubleshoot :

  • I did manage to connect the quest to my cellphone via hotspot.
  • I factory reseted the quest and retried to connect to the freebox via passwords and QR code.
  • I trued to connect the quest via the phone app.
  • Rooter was rebooted, i was in the same room etc.
  • We have all other devices connecting without problem to this rooter.

Thanks for your help

Hey everyone! I'm a bit late to the party for announcing this, but the PTC for V67 just started rolling out not too long ago. It sounds really promising that some of you are already reporting improvements after updating! For anyone else participating in the latest V67 PTC build, please feel free to continue providing your feedback and experiences—along with your full build numbers, so that I can continue funneling these reports to the team. I don't have confirmation on whether or not a fix was supposed to roll out for this PTC build, but I'm working on finding out anything more I can share from the team. Thanks for continuing to keep me updated with your feedback!

Update:

Hey everyone, its looking like some people are seeing their issue resolved by updating to the latest PTC. If you're interested in testing out the new PTC release, you can find more information for how to opt in here. Please keep in mind that the PTC is a test build for unreleased Quest software builds, so while your Wi-Fi connectivity may have improvements, it's possible that other features of the software could be unstable. If you prefer to stay on stable public builds, I recommend holding out for the live V67 release, which should hopefully be coming out sometime soon!

I am also having the same issue, dedicated Quest 3 AP, 6ghz wifi 6 with AP 8 feet away.

Wifi is now dropping out every 1-10 minutes randomly.

This worked flawlessly until v64 was installed. You need to let us revert firmware when you brick the headset WiFi. I cant use 5ghz WiFi because there are too many other people using it around me that the headset gets interference.

Can we please get an update?

Hi there

My experience with the VR lately was amazing but I ran into some issues the other day:

As soon as there is a internet outage my Meta Quest 3 Refuses to connect to the routers wifi at all. It auto disconnects resulting  me not being able to use Meta Quest 3 in PC VR.

1.My PC is connected to the router by cable.

2.And Quest3 refuses to connect to wifi if no internet was found.(no problem connecting if internet is active)

I simply wish to still be able to play offline games with my quest3, Like Fallout4 VR which i play through Steam vr. But due to Quest 3 Disconnects from the Wifi. It looses connection to my PC and my offline gaming session is canceled.

Can there be a software update for quest3 so we can remain connected to the wifi even if it does not find internet connection please?

When you connect to PC are you using Air Link by Wi-fi or Oculus Link by Link cable? It will only let you use one or the other.

If you're using Oculus Link mode by cable (Air Link is not enabled) while connected and the connection fails when there is no Wi-Fi, then its possibly an issue.

Do you have the same problem if you try connecting with USB debugging enabled?

Same issue on fritzbox 7490. I am using wpa2+3, 5hgz wifi 5.

Fix for me: Use the guest wifi!

It's same frequency, same password, same encryption, all identical ...

... I don't know what is AVM making diffrent betweenn guest and standard, but I am shure, if you digure out you can solve this issue for us.

The difference is that guest WiFi devices cannot communicate with other devices on the network. So no guest Quest device access to Lan devices such as PC-VR/NAS. As far as I know, communication is only possible between guest devices (Wifi only) if you enable it. Interesting observation.

The guest LAN only gives internet access, that is correct.

After some testing with the guest access information, I turned off the 2.4 WiFi. This means that all Wi-Fi devices except the Quest 3 with 5 GHz no longer had access.
That had no effect.

I have gradually removed LAN devices from the network.

After removing my Phillips Hue Bridge, the Quest 3 connection remained stable for 30 minutes on 3 attempts. When I reconnected the Hue Bridge, the Quest3 lost connection again. Once immediately. Once after about a minute.
I also gave network access back to all other devices.
The connection remained stable. As long as the Hue Bridge was not online.

Of course, this is just a quick test. And not a long term with real use of the Quest3.
Does anyone with these WiFi problems also have a Phillips Hue Bridge?

I also have a Hue bridge! 😮

I will disconnect it and give some Feedback later ...

Hue Bridge here too.

TheLegend27 do you or the team have a current update on this issue which was introduced in the v64 update or should we as users continue troubleshooting for Meta?

For me it's not the Philips Hue Bridge. I did remove power and still have the problem.

May be I have another problem then you? My quest 3 does disconnct exactly every 10 minutes!

Someone in the german thread did figure out that there is a problem with the encryption key renew

I do not understand that, too. Yesterday evening I had another interruption in connection despite removing the Hue Bridge. It seems completely unpredictable.

What remained stable over time, however, was the encrypted guest WiFi access.

Afterwards, I changed a number of other settings AGAIN in the network, on the devices and this time in the settings of the Quest 3 (android).

Afterwards another test 70 minutes straight on the regular network until the Quest 3's battery was empty with a stable connection to the Internet and internal access without interruption.

I'll test it again this evening without changing anything to see if it continues to remain stable.
This now makes me feel insecure as well.

If Meta doesnt, wie have to find out the exact cause between: it works now and it no longer works.
The sad thing is that Meta doesn't seem to help us.
It would be really helpful if we knew exactly what they changed in the wifi between v63 and v64.

It also doesn't seem to help, that this issue shows differently depending on Wifi band (2.4, 5 and 6 GHz) and type of Router or Access Point used. The drops range from just a couple of seconds to minutes for different people and setups.

I have a Unifi AP 7 Pro with Wifi 6e/7 and experiencing drops every couple of seconds. The 6 GHz band is totally unusable. But I can get a stable connection in the 5 GHz band with Wifi 6. Still not a solution for me, because the 5 GHz band seems to crowded in my area and I experience intermittent packet loss and therefore stutters in PCVR.

But it's clear to me that this issue is caused by the v64 update, since both Quest 3s here have the exact same issue after updating. And I wonder why there isn't more communication going on from META, since the update basically made the devices useless for us (at least for people that mainly do PCVR or online play). At least give us a downgrade option!

Hopefully it is fixed by the new firmware.

Same problem here with a Fritzbox 7490. Constantly droping WiFi every 10 minutes. Can‘t play any online games because of it.

Does anyone know if the next version V65 addresses the issue? I am tempted to request a refund on my set.
